My steel swimming pool ladder is a magnet for wasps. There are often two or thee of the horrible kind with the long back legs hovering around it or alighting on it, presumably for a drink.

Not a major problem since we have Roman steps to get in at the shallow end, but I'm afraid sooner or later a visitor is going to get stung, maybe a child.

Has anyone had this problem and overcome it? I read that some plants like citronella and peppermint repel wasps and have thought of putting a few pots near, but am skeptical.

A little separate water feature- fountain  (some way away) tends to attract them away. V

Hi we have a large ceramic bowl about 6ft from our pool with loads of wasps in it, and absolutely none in the pool. Hope this helps 😎
