I am a dog owner who picks up after my dog but we have a neighbour a couple of doors away (spanish) who have 2 dogs and just let them mess everywhere and it's right by the bin.   It's disgusting, I for one don't want to tread there when going to bin.   Why can't the owners pic...

apparently the new laws in spain, they can. be fined up to €1000 so i think you need to put up signs around your area and if it still the same people report them, that is the only language some people know

Does anyone else feel the dog mess on the pavements is a problem?

It certainly bothered us ! It was Among other things a contributing factor for us selling up.

Our village was like a minefield and you never caught anyone allowing dogs to foul .at night I presume. Such a shame, who wants to cart that into their house after a late night returning !

Disgusting

Do you think it’s possible that the people who are allowing their dogs to dirty our pavements are recent residents. Years ago, the footpaths were strewn with dirt then people began to carry little poop bags and pick up the dirt and later dispose of it. Many of these people have gone back to their native countries and new people have moved in. Do you think this could be the reason?   New pictorial signs need to be displayed in all areas to discourage dog owners from shirking their responsibilities.

Many ( in my area), dog owners clean- up & "spray" during the day. In the morning. Those who take their little "woofs" for their secret nocturnal ablutions in the street (rather than in the  Campo),  leave for us to pick-up & tread in the morning. V

If the OP lives in the same town as me, the one this post refers to, then the culprits are almost exclusively Spanish.

Actually see a guy dragging his Alsatian down the road as the dog was doing his business. Was funny in a way, this poor dog trying to poo but all that was left was a trail of horrible stuff on the pavement.

I am at this moment in Torra De Mar and I have spoken to several people from Spain that used to visit Torrevieja but have now stopped and come here from Madrid for their break as there is a big problem with the dog muck and other rubbish.  Here is spotless
