Buying a car
We have just got our residencia and our driving licence exchange has been processed with DGT and we are just waiting for our new Spanish licence. We are in the U.K. but flying back to move into our new home in October and need to buy a car - hiring is getting very expensive! We would be delighted to hear from anyone who has done this self help rather than through a gestor and their experience of what they did, had to do and who they arranged their insurances, tax etc. It would be useful to have recommendations of garages that were reliable and trustworthy to buy from as we will most likely buy from a garage and willing to travel any distance for the right car. It will not be a new car but a couple of years old something like a Lexus NX or RX.
We know a lot of advice is to use a gestor for ease but we were advised to do that with our residence application, driving licence, padron etc and found that we were then in the hands of the gestor in how quickly they did things and they didn’t seem to appreciate our urgency (Brexit deadline!) and we ended up doing the paperwork they should have been doing and making appointments ourselves with our Cl@ve account and got things done. It was not difficult just took a bit of time to make sure we understood what was required and had the right documentation.
Any advice or experiences if you have bought a car without a gestor gratefully received.
Many thanks
