Thinking of taking early retirement and living permanently in Spain. I was wondering whether to investigate properties in Denia or go further south? Any advice appreciated. Thank you

If you are a UK passport holder and you want to live in Spain permanently you will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.

Thanks for your response. I am an Irish/European passport holder. My query was more about where's a good place to buy for permanent living.

Unfortunately only you can decide that for yourself. Maybe come over and rent for a while in places you are interested in. Would be a massive mistake to take other peoples advice. We all like different things.

Hi Sam,

You’d probably be better off posting your query as a new question, rather than as a reply in this thread. I’d say, though, it would be sensible to spend a chunk of time in each area to help make your decision. I preferred CB South to North, but it was just due to my own needs. If you are looking to move permanently, might be best to rent for a while, in particular to see what it’s like out of season. Best of luck with it.

I think you may find that the people (1000's ??) who are leaving Spain are those who have lived hear for years and never bothered to get residency. I don't think that any permanent residents are just leaving for no reason! Why would they?

Steve

I’m a newbie with Residency through Brexit UK spanish consul. It’s very expensive but worth every penny.Dont give in.

Hi Sam66,

I retired to Spain in April 2021 and my "online" research brought me to Calpe, North Costa Blanca on the basis the coastal climate better (for me) than inland and the scenery better than South Costa Blanca. However, I changed my mind within a few weeks of arrival and now live in Benijofar. Not as hilly (or windy!) as Calpe and temperature a couple of degrees better.

Hope this helps and good luck with the decision making!

Manus

You will get a better response if you post your question in a new thread.
