How will a mask protect you?  It will protect you if someone infected with Covid-19 coughs directly into your face, but then you would both have been violating social distancing requirements.

If someone with Covid-19 coughs in your vicinity whilst observing social distancing, you will only catch it if you touch the surface(s) on which their droplets have fallen AND, having touched that surface, you would then have to touch your mouth, nose or eyes.  You should know, by now, not t...

...o do that, so I ask again, how does it help to deny healthcare professionals much needed masks and other PPE?

Best wishes,

Kim

This looks dangerous as it does not cover the eyes and does not actually filter the breathing. I would NOT trust this.

No, I don't, my husband's adopted that task, and when he does, he keeps strictly to the social distancing rules, that's why he doesn't need a mask.  As soon as he gets home, the first thing he does is to wash his hands.  I unpack the bags and wipe them down with a solution of disinfectant.  I use the same solution to wipe the door handles of the car and our house.  Then I wash my hands.  It really is that simple.

Kind regards,

Kim

my point is he may keep to the rules but what about some idiot passing too close in the aisle. Rather than that risk I would like a mask but hey ho.....

I believe, if "someone" passes by spreading any virus, cold or whatever, any said "droplets" etc that settles on your spectacles, hair, clothing & masks. I´d rather not to continue to keep inhaling which have settled on & around your nasal, eyes & mouth area. Just my thoughts.A disposable tissue (2 or 3) works just as good. A soon as possible (as Kimmy11 says) wash everything after.

I just asked my husband.  He says it's never been an issue.  Consum (Rojales) only allow 40 people into the shop at any one time.  Once that level is reached, you have to queue outside and as one shopper leaves, they let the next person in.  He said someone would have to aim for him, in order to come too close.

That said, I don't think anything will allay your concerns, so in the absence of masks being available to buy, I'd suggest you make one.  If that isn't practical, wrap a scarf around your nose and mouth - but be very careful to make sure you don't touch your face when you remove it and remember to wash it after every trip out.

Kind regards,

Kim

Masks are not easy to find.  However, experts say you don't really need a mask just to keep your distance.  However, I felt better wearing one to the supermarket.  Couldn't buy one but they are easy to make and you can find the instructions on YouTube.  Many people at my local Mercadona were wearing homemade ones.
