So, maybe a little hope and timeline...tba

This from Alicante Dream Homes today...

This is positive news, the Spanish government are targeting mid June to open up for tourists from Germany, France and Italy and is in negotiations with the UK. If this happens the 2 week quarantine will also be cancelled.

They have informed all major travel companies to start to prepare. They are hoping to at least give the tourists industry some business this year.

Let’s wait and see

Sounds like wishful thinking to me, no one knows when and if we will even go to Phase 2 never mind 3 with deaths and new cases flattened again not continuing to drop its very optimistic!

I do hope they are right but I seriously doubt it will be happening anytime soon, as the other poster says wishful thinking. There are a number of Fases to go through in Spain and we need to bear in mind the different stages that are other countries are at. Also at present airlines and ferry companies are taking bookings that they know they will be cancelling in due course, the reason being they are desperate to get cash in their accounts and then try and give people credit vouchers for future trips rather than give the cash refunds passengers are entitled to.

I have heard from many sources it will be September when Spain allows but only from certain countries. If the UK's death rate (official/real/unreal I ain't judging) is too high then I see a country by country ban.

I saw a post from a Valencian lawyer on Facebook yesterday and I queried his remarks . He basically said as from the 25th May , all foreigners will get permission to enter but will have the quarantine period.

I said to him that , reading the BOE myself , I didn’t read it that way . However he insisted he was correct. I think he’s banking on the state of alarm being lifted from the 25th . Given that some places are still on phase 0 , there’s no way they will open up the skies in 11 day’s time!
I wish it was true ....10 weeks separated from my husband ....not good enough by a long chalk !

You are right RobScot....everyone's wishful thinking maybe. Time will tell and what is the new reality at any given date. No dates are realities in this unprecedented and catastrophic situation.

We (personally) live in hope as we completed the villa purchase in February and may be saying goodbye to the UK in July-ish....who knows.

Stay well.

Agreed John56. Wouldn't trust the airlines for a while. Maybe drive as and when it becomes possible. Timing...well...whenever...Spain and our house is still there.

Stay well.

Wish you well Cfell63...10 weeks is a long, long time...even with Skype and tech. We will get out of this, maybe treasure things a little more and look forward to a different 'normal', we do.

Stay well and I hope you get him back soon.

Hopefully things will continue to improve and when you are able to travel to Spain and are thinking of the driving option have a look at the Viamichelin website for a great detailed route map showing all the service stations / rest areas and where all the tolls are and how much they cost, we used it three years ago when making our permanent move and drove from Cherbourg to La Zenia.
