Hi is there any news about when people can travel back to Spain, we would like to get across to our house once the UK is out of lockdown but think we will drive to avoid hundreds of people at the airport's.

At the moment you cannot even drive into Spain unless you are Spanish, have residentia or a contract to work!

I read that they will open the borders between regions on 22nd June To allow travel all throughout Spain but I don’t think that will be country border till much later although the hotels are opening on Monday in Almeria ,(not sure about other areas ). without dining areas being open. So slowly ,   they will be desperate to get the tourists back but they won’t undo all the success of the lockdown.

If you have Residencia i.e. the green credit size or A4 size document you are allowed to return to your home in Spain. The key being it is your principle residence not a second home. You must have the original Residencia document with you otherwise you will be refused entry at the boarder. No other document of residence will be accepted. The French require a statement of purpose to travel through France if that is your route. As a resident you would qualify to transit France. Dover ferries and Tunnel are working but you must have these documents with you before being allowed to board. Brittany Ferries to Santander or Bilbo are not operating other than for commercial traffic until mid June. Remember once in Spain, in your principle residence you stay. You cannot then claim repatriation to UK under the current situation.

I read in a few days ago a report ( sorry can't find the link ) that the Spanish Tourist industry are making a major push to encourage tourism among the Spanish people to holiday in Spain to counter the lost of international tourists so another piece of evidence that the borders will not open soon.

What exactly is nonsense? Everything I stated is fact.  Staying put in the UK is your opinion and therefore subjective. Do you have any idea of how those of us who as residents, full tax paying legal residents, of Spain and find ourselves stranded in the UK are living? Are you assuming we all have places to stay? second homes in the UK? family in the UK to stay with? Plenty of clothes? Able to get food if we do not have transport? Do you really think any sane person would travel back to their home without knowing if they are infected? By the tone of your note I suspect you are in your own home surrounded by most of what you need. Lucky person. Try and be thoughtful. Consider those less fortunate than you who are suffering and trying to get home.

Don’t be so bloody rude! The original poster asked about driving back to Spain once the UK and Spain allow travel. They have no intention of trying to creep into spain through a hole in the fence whilst the county is in lockdown. Once Spain agree travel from the uk you cant do anything to stop them travelling.

I totally agree with you. We were due to move to Spain on 7th April having sold our house in the UK. We are now stuck in a tiny Airbnb with very few possessions as they are in transit to Spain. Nobody is travelling just because they want to but some of us need to as we have no other home. Your comments are not helpful!

As if they would travel knowing they were infected think before you write a rude unhelpful comment, you have no idea of their situation !!

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

The only real worldwide pandemic is man made, viral toxic social and main stream media,a virus infection that is new and basically attacks the systems of the frail and vulnerable but leaves the general population unaffected has been blown up out of all proportion and a domino affect throughout the world has seen country after country follow the hysteria and impose medievil lockdowns one after the other.

Any country not following the crowd has been villified on social media within seconds ,and the populations then clamour to be treated the same as everyone else ,like children.

Every Country is now desperately trying to lift the sanctions in order to stop the collapse of their economic system, death rates are suddenly dropping as the money runs out.

The vast majority of deaths in each country have been of the elderly and frail and those who have health problems and would have succumbed to a seasonal illness anyway,we all have to die sometime.Care homes again in each country have been hardest hit because there is a concentration of these people and the care element at all levels is woeful at any time.

Ireland reports that 85% of "covid" deaths were in their carehomes,UK reports of elderly being sent from hospital back to care homes to die as they did not want the special care beds blocked by someone who will die anyway(1700 people a day ,die in Uk on any given day anyway).

This is repeated throughout the world Spain and Italy included.

Driven by media we have people congratulating themselves for doing nothing, earnest virtue signallers bedecked in masks and gloves wandering the streets, ques to get into any shop policed by yellow jacketed ushers ,the world has gone mad.

Here in Belfast the virus swept through in February, pubs and clubs,as it had no name it was just "this virus going round" three to four weeks of hacking cough and headaches ,lack of energy and slow recovery, those unfit were ill for longer those who were active and health conscious shook it off after three weeks, all still out and about .

Given a name and being declared a killer virus gave the impetus for the media to hype it up and create the hysteria we have now.

The UK has a high "mortality" rate due to every death being recorded as covid ,having traces of covid is not the same as dieing of it and the media (left wing and BBC)delight in carrying the debacle over Brexit ,3 years, into daily vilification of the government and its handling of the "pandemic".

In an ideal world we would all be at work,if you get ill you stay home ,nhs managers who control trust policies responsible actually doing their job, unions not using it to get more money, hospitals would be open and operations still being carried out etc.

Covid effects will be felt for generations as the true cost is revealed, economic disaster, hundreds of thousands of firms closed, people unemployed,Cancer patients ignored and left to die, collapsing infrastructure globally, all for a worldwide loss of commonsense.

I have friends in their 90s who have been incarcerated in their homes and condemmed to waste out their days alone, pensioners when out exercising are treated like lepers as younger people scramble to avoid going near them ,the airwaves full of "experts" telling us what not to do,regulations on how to live with covid broadened by the minute ,latest, leave parcels you receive for three days before touching ,really?

It will only get worse!!

We have a generation who ,brought up on believing all they see ,read and hear on all media as being the gospel truth.

The Rubella vaccine ,the moon landings never happened, the millenium bug,etc and now Covid.
