We spent a lovely day yesterday visiting several gardens round Campoverde. The owners of seven properties in the area opened their gardens to the public and also went to the trouble of providing refreshments for visitors. This was a fantastic opportunity for people to see a variety of gardens, designs and plants and also to meet one another.

All the gardens were different and impressive in different ways. One was beautifully landscaped with the addition of an intricately detailed miniature railway, another had a collection of garden ornaments, another had a wonderful natural area which the owner had sympathetically landscaped. One gentleman was extremely knowledgable about the diverse plants and shrubs in his garden as well as giving many tips on garden design and another garden boasted a banana plant with bananas growing. One garden was divided into different sections explained in a guide and this included an artists studio with a small exhibition of work by local artists.

We were so impressed with the diverse characteristics of all the gardens we visited and were unaware that the 'Open Gardens' day is an annual event. Do look out for this next year if you are interested in gardens, plants or would like some ideas for your own garden. We were told about it by a lady who volenteers in the library and also saw notices outside the library and in Lucias's.

Thank you!  We went last year but missed it this year unfortunately.  Will make sure we put it in our diary early next year...

What a pity - it really was well worth going!

Oh I'm so disappointed I missed this, I would have loved to have gone.  Is it the same time each year?

I'm not sure, but I presume so - perhaps someone else can answer this?
