We own a two bed properly in Pinar De Campoverde which has AC units in the living and master bedroom. I’m considering another unit for the rear bedroom and note all the connections appear present inside and out for such a fit.

Whilst I’m more than competent for most DIY tasks this type of project seems to be beyond my still sets having viewed some online content.

Has anyone else carried out such work and what was your experience and if a qualified AC   tradesperson was used can I ask the costs and any recommendations.

Hi PC1477,

I got quotes last summer for a new Giatsu unit for a spare bedroom.  Like you, we had the piping pre-installed.  The quotes for supply and installation then were between €540 and €580.  I don't know where you'd stand regarding the guarantee if you did it yourself 🤔

We used Julio Curso, who speaks Spanish and English: (00 34) 655 648 321.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim. Thanks for the response and recommendation. I was looking at a relatively inexpensive unit in Leroy Merlin for €300 and they quoted €250 to fit.

Try  Milar  electrical  stores  got a  good variety and do  not  quote   high  installation  costs.  I would  not bother  with   a  cheap  unit.  Average  costs to get supplied and  installed  550  -  580. Would  also stay  clear of doing   installation  yourself.   No  comeback  if any  goes  wrong  and  have  you  all  tools  for such  work

Best  of luck 👍

Thanks for your contribution. I saw one particular video that made me think this is a job for a      specialist. I’m only on a short visit and my first encounter with August temperatures and a fully occupied home, hence the decision to invest in another unit. I’ll most probably pop into Millars on our next visit

I  would  also  add  would  you  be  capable  of  lifting  a A/C  motor  on to  brackets  and  if  you live in Apartment  top  floor   as these  motor  are heavy and  awkward  for 1  person .  Plus  think  of  Safety  you do not want a back  injury  as they  are not  pleasant   I am  writing  from  experience

I’ve no idea of the units weight but the location for the main unit is on the solarium so in our case 3 flights of stairs from GL.
