Speak to Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurance, see their advert on the Forum Home page and he will be able to help you with all the options for PHI that is required when you are applying for Residencia / TIE and for the best cover.

Morning Paul,

We're with ASSSA - I'm 59, hubby's 62, we have no underlying health conditions and we pay a total of £1,780 per annum.

Kind regards,

Kim

Roughly the same price with Salus for similar ages.

Thanks very much John and Kimmy that sounds reasonable, is this a BUPA  type arrangement or access to their NHS? We've never needed to visit a doctor while in Spain but always assumed our EHIC and travel insurance would cover us but these are strange times.

When you have your policy you should receive a directory of private clinics and hospitals that you can access, as I said Alfonso is extremely helpful and will take you through all the options, benefits and services.

Just a quick update, we've been carrying out some research and the vast majority have quite long waiting times before any treatment is covered, so you pay 12 months up front and for the first 6 to 8 months you're not covered, I only found one (ASEFA) who cover from day one, unfortunately they don't seem to have anything in my area, so if I need to see a Dr it's a drive to the coast.
