"tasa fiscal" is not the equivalent for "fiscal tax". The Gvt. imposes a tasa fiscal on certain services provided to an individual on demand. Perhaps "service fee" would be right definition.

Fiscal is used to describe something that relates to government money or public money, especially taxes.

Hi Maureen,

It doesn't make sense for your solicitors to refer to Non-residents' tax or Residents' tax as "Fiscal tax", but in any event, if you completed on your property in November 2018, you will be liable for Non-resident tax for that year, pro-rated for the 2 months you owned the property, and that payment will be due on or before 31 December 2019 (assuming you haven't rented it out?).

Now that you have Residencia, you also need to complete a Modelo 720 Declaration of (worldwide) Assets* and then next year you will need to complete your first Modelo 100 Income Tax Return for financial year 2019, which will need to be submitted by end June 2020 (the date varies slightly each year, but the Agencia Tributaria notifies the precise date each year).

* The Modelo 720 captures assets in three categories: banks/savings accounts, property, and private pensions/annuities/investments.  You only have to declare those assets with a value in excess of Eu 50,000 and this doesn't include your primary residence or Spanish bank account.

Are Sun Solicitors offering to help you with these submissions?  If you're already paying them a retainer, or they've given you a quote for doing this work, you may want to ask for alternative recommendations on the forum, just to check their costs.  Alternatively, you could read Jim Taylor's guide on here about how to do this yourself:

Jim's guides - your complete guide to Spain

Not sure if this is going to help, as you haven't said what your solicitor's email says, but hope it's a steer in the right direction.

Kind regards,

Kim
