Hi you may have heard of me before as I have posted here before.

With all the conflicting information I would like to ask a question but please do nit answer unless you actually  know the true answer as allot rides in facts ! I want to move to Spain permanently with my wife and 5 children unfortunately we couldn't get to Spain before the Brexit dead line due to the pandemic and the need to sell our house ! Is it possible for us to still come to live in Spain permanently.

I am self employed.

I will be able to buy our house with the proceeds of our home in the UK with a large amount left over so won't be needing any state help financially. Can you please give us a factual answer kind regards Jeff

You can apply to live permanently in Spain but you must apply initially to the Spanish embassy for residency whileyouare stillin the UK. You will have to apply for the correct Visa. To apply for residency you will need to prove that you have full healthcare paid for a full year for all your family. You will need to show that you have an annual income of €27,115.20 for yourself and additional €6,778.80 for each additional person in the family. You don't mention the ages of your children but I understand that the school fees are quite high but no doubt someone will enlighten you of cost etc. Do you intend to be self employed here in Spain?

Depending on how much money you have, you could get a Golden Visa.

Sit tight, with the way the exchange rate is going, you never know ;-)

Good luck with things. Getting residency in Spain is far from simple or cheap now. When the economy tanks that might change, but for now it's a tough job.

Jeff, if you intend to work in Spain, pay Autonomo fees(self Emoloyed) buy a house, etc, you would be welcomed. The Residencia is more complicated now, but is very doable.
As has been said above, you will need to show you have enough money to provide for the family, but as I understand it, money in the bank (savings) will count towards this.

Our kids are going to the local school, so no problem there. You really need to speak to a solicitor to put your mind at rest, and to go through your options. I can recommend one, as I’m sure others can on here.

I have also heard www.getlegalinspain.com are very good and helpful.

Be very careful with the dates of sale and tax residency

These are the visas available to apply for (in Spanish & English).

Suggest you have a look before going any further.
