Has anyone any experience of car hire from Alicante airport off site and not pick up within the Airport. Hire costs for August 2020 are through the roof but it appears cheaper if you take a shuttle from the airport to pick up your hire car off site. I`m not sure if it`s worth the saving if it`s unreliable or takes too long from landing to actual taking possession of the car and the same on the way back on off hire. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have used both OK and Wieber offsite. My preferred company is Firefly but when they’re not competitive I will look at others.

I’m sure others will have had different experiences but I was happy with both. OK are quality cars but limit your mileage. Wieber were very well organised and emailed pictures of previous damage straight to my phone before I’d even seen the car.

I’d say it adds ten or fifteen minutes to pick up. You only wait a few minutes to be picked up and the office is less than five minutes away. Certainly worth it to save a lot of money.

Good luck

Agree  I just booked 3 weeks in august with OK for £200 and 5 days next week with wiber £14, never had a problem with either and find both really good, my anual car hire excess £40 with reducemyexcess.com.

Thank you for your reply. I`ve booked Wiber through Rentalcars at £167.50 for 13 days. That was far cheaper than any other search site and even Wiber`s own website. I`ve got to say that`s the dearest I`ve ever paid in August for 14 days hire. BTW I have car hire waiver insurance on my annual travel insurance. Stay Safe.

Update: Yesterday I checked car hire and low and behold I`ve managed to hire a Mokka for 13 days for the  sum of £37. Can`t believe it.

Cancelled my original booking, with full refund, and saved £130. It pays to keep checking prices. Just hope we can travel over on the 7th.
