I do live in a traditional Spanish town Ray, at least in the Campo, and we see the women out sweeping and mopping. We also regularly see workers from the local Ayuntamiento sweeping the streets because the money collected in Albatera goes on Albatera which unfortunately is not the case on the Ori...

...huela Costa. The roads are awful, the facilities are inadequate and surely paying your IBI gives you some right to expect a certain level of investment?

I live in ‘Upmarket Winchester’ and my goodness it’s far worse than we have ever seen it , we enjoy looking after outside garden and area around but unfortunately these days very few people do and the Councils are absolutely useless especially in these sad times.  The only services that seem to be working week are our garbage collection services. Remember English councils had massive cuts and you were told than it would not effect front line services, of course it did and does.

It was called austerity, the cuts reduced economic activity, added 1 trillion to the UK debt in ten years.

and now we have the spending caused by Covid-19

Covid has required spending elsewhere so maybe weed control has to take a back seat, it is doing in the Uk.

Public spending is well repaid both in Spain and UK, while I don't want to pay more tax I realise tax is necessary.

I understand that weeds on the side of roads in the great scheme of things are not that important, but the level of rubbish is something we all can control, particularly cigarette ends  horrid filthy things.
