Hi,

I am currently looking to purchase a holiday apartment in Playa Flamenca and surrounding areas and I am trying to do a rough estimate of costs, for gas, electricity and water, what are the average costs, do they have standing charges and for televisions do you have to pay for a license as you do in the UK.

Thanks in advance

Hello Karen, you will also have to pay council tax (IBI, collected by Suma), rubbish collection, community fees (if applicable) and Non-Resident's tax. These are a lot lower than in the UK but all add up.

Hi Cheryl

Thank you for this information. I wasn't aware you also had a non resident's tax to pay if you just want the property for your own use. I have been trying to get some information about this but what I have read so far it based on the value of the property

Hi Karen100

We have a 2 bed apartment. Electric costs about 22€ a month when not in use.  Its roughly about 10 to 15€per week more when in use. Our water has been 65£ per quarter for tha past 18 months -we dont have a private pool

We pay 35€ per quarter in fees to Sabadell. We dont have internet but paid about 300€ to have a dish installed that gives us the channels that we need

Our commumity fees for the upkeep of grounds and cummunal pool is 118€ a quarter.

Hope this helps

Hi Cheryl

Thank you for your informative message. I am keen to buy a property and I am visiting next week for a few days. There are a couple of concerns I have and that is to find a property that will be suitable to get a Tourist License for and also the possible taxes on any rental income post Brexit being 24 per cent and no allowable expenses. I shall have a clearer idea next week if I like the areas etc because I haven't been before. I have been watching the program Sun,Sea, and Selling Houses.

Cheers

Karen

Hi Karen

I was hooked an that program !

We went with an open mind. Sunworld took us to different areas and to see different styles of properties before we decided on our place in Punta Prima.

We dont let the property but if you look at this site l understand that the property has to meet some criteria if you are looking to holiday let so better check it out beforehand just incase the agents fail to mention

We also use a compant called Reat Tax Beaurau who take care of the taxes for us. They charge about 100€ per year. I will probably take care of it myself once l fully understand it but its peace of mind until l do !

Good luck in your search exciting times ahead
