Hi Grace48,If you're resident in Spain, I'd recommend either Telfy (office in Rojales) or Avatel (office in Guardamar).  We've been customers of both and were very happy - the only reason we switched from Telfy to Avatel is because Avatel rolled out fibre optic and 5G in our area faster than Telfy.I think you also have a Vega Fibra Office in the commercial shop parade in Benijofar- may be worth comparing prices, but I have no knowledge of th...

I've been subscribed to TVMucho for the last few years and quite happy with the service. I get 36 UK TV channels and catchup services for €48 per annum. You can download their app onto your phone, ipad/tab or smart TV. You will need a good Internet speed. I run mine through Movistar high speed fibre optic cable and don't have any buffering at all. Check out:https://tvmucho.com/Steve...

If you're non-resident, ask each provider whether they offer a "turn on/turn off" service.

Kind regards,

Hi Kimmy11

Telfy give just 9 English TV channels - only 3 or 4 that we would use.

Will take a look at Avatel though.

Thank you

Just do what I do. I have a dish in the garden and a Freesat box.  I can get dozens of channels in English and it does not need a supplier in Spain and best of all ITS FREE.

I don't need Spanish TV and what I have seen of it I never will.

Hi. Dish and freesat box sounds good.

Can i ask a few questions please....

What size dish is needed? (We have been told 1.4 or 1.8)

Did you set this up yourself or is a technician required?

What sort of cost is involved?

TIA 🙂

Hi Grace48,

I'll do my best.

My dish is 1.8m and seems to bring in most things. Some signals are weak so you do loose them from time to time.  The signal is not beamed at Spain so we are right on the edge of the footprint. A bigger dish may not be the answer as it could bring in stuff you don't want.

I brought my original Freesat box from the UK and have since obtained another with HDMI output. As has been suggested you might find one in a second hand shop but please ensure it has the right connections for your TV.  If that is fairly modern it will be HDMI. The plug is quite a bit smaller then the old SCART plug and SCART is analogue and HDMI is digital and they are not compatible.

Because of that wonderful Brexit messup getting things sent from the UK is now much more difficult and you might be charged customs duty.  If you know someone coming over get them to bring you one.  The last one cost me about €100 from Freesat themselves but that was a year or two ago.  Have a look at the Freesat website for the new stuff and channel lists.

https://www.freesat.co.uk/get-freesat

You cannot set the dish up yourself and the person who does that needs to have the proper equipment (not just a simple meter) as the dish positioning is critical. Just a couple of millimetres out and you will drop channels.  The dish needs to have an unobstructed view towards the satellite which is positioned a few degrees East of due South.  I did install my dish as that is not difficult, but I could not set it up.

You might be able to find a second hand dish on one of the selling sites like Milanuncios.es or even Ebay.es or put an ad on this forum.  As for cost, sorry, I can't help there.

Just a final tip, if you buy second hand one that has an LNB (the bit in the middle). If you don't know how old it is it would be a good idea to replace it. They are not dear and you can choose how many outputs you need, which is one for every box.

Hope this helps.  I am not a TV installer so this is from my own experiences.
