Hi, thanks for being so clear. Can I ask one question that I haven't been able to find the answer to, what is the tax percentage that you pay on your pension with an NLV?

Thanks.

We have NHS pensions so they will be taxed here in the UK, then we just transfer it over each month. You only pay tax on the interest on your savings. I think its 21% of interest earned?

Thanks. I would probably have to pay the 21% tax on mine, as it is not taxed at source.

We moved here to Guardamar five years ago and got residencia a year later once I was sure my husband  who has serious medical conditions was going to be happy and settled . Thank heavens we got it then would hate to go through what people are having to go through now. I know many people who have lived here permanently for many years and never bothered to get residencia  think they will be in for a shock !!!

Thanks. Initially I'm only looking at six months, so I don't take up residency. Then I think I probably will, if I can sort the tax issue out. I have an international insurance with Allianz,  so I hope that will he enough.

Hi

Re Edinburgh Embassy, anyone got a visa or waiting for a visa from them? Looking for an idea of time from interview to getting visa.

Hope someone can help.

Hi, from newbies still reeling from the fact that we are finally on the road to our sunshine retirement dream!  We have just bought a static in Pinoso, very happy with our decision. We will need to start this process soon, great to hear of other's experiences. The fees are no surprise, and as someone says private medical insurance was always something we would factor in, anyhow. Thank you very much for this post. 🙏

Hi we obtained our visa from Edinburgh. We had it back with our passport in 1 month. Be warned they are quite rude and rush it all through, and you are treated like someone who just came on off a boat. They also accidentally kept some of our original documents which we had to request back from them later. Needed a drink after that debacle.  This was in June mind and it might have got busier since then. Good luck

Sorry I can’t answer this one. All my funds are invested in the UK and as I have only been in Spain for 3 months I have not had any dealings with tax so far. I just transfer what I need to Spain as required.  Next year, when I get my state pension, I will probably get It paid directly to S...

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping to do from Italy where I'm based.

Just a word about taxation......

You cannot elect to be tax resident in both countries. If you become a resident of Spain via NLV and TIE you become tax resident after 183 days.

You need to register with the Agencia Tributaria by submitting a Modelo 100. This is whether your income reaches a tax threshold or not.

When your tax return falls due you should file one. That return should include all your income regardless of country it is earned in.

The Tributaria will send you a Certificate to confirm you are in the Spanish tax system and you should send this certificate along with the HMRC Double Taxation form (DT- individual) to the HMRC to exit the UK taxation system.

In my view it would be very unwise to try to remain permanently in 2 tax systems especially if it could be considered that someone was declaring income in each of those systems below taxation thresholds in order to reduce or avoid tax.

Not sure this correct? I know you have to stay a minimum of 183 days in the first year.

I have an appointment tomorrow in Manchester re NLV,  I shall clarify this with them..

Good afternoon all,and thanks to everyone in Spain for providing us Spanish hopefuls with some very useful information.

We are applying for our NLV,s from the Manchester consulate, and I was wondering if anyone has obtained their medical records from elsewhere besides their own doctors,as I believe the doctor has to be registered with the FCDO and if they aren’t the application is delayed or worse, rejected.
