I have a friend who is a Spanish resident and worked here for more than 15 years. I have read that you have to go to local INSS office to apply for your Spanish state pension. Can you not apply with the forms on line? Can anyone help me with explaining the process?

All online advice and guidance states that a Spanish pension must be claimed by visiting an INSS office and by appointment only.the following links will provide more information:

You have to apply for your pension in the last country you worked in. They will also apply for your UK pension. The 2 pensions are paid separate as Spain pay monthly with 2 extra payments a year in June and December whereas UK pay every 28 days. Go to INSS office approx 3 months before due pension date and take an approx list of where you worked and dates in the UK they only want a rough idea.
