Once again we have been ripped off by rental companies this time firefly last time gold car and the time before,gold car, they pointed out damage which was already there when we picked the car up, I took pictures before taking the car away and showed them before and after, they just shrug their shoulders and say No, it cost me 180.00 and then 235.00.

This last time with fire fly they said I booked full to empty which I did not

Once again they said I had pay another 116.37 for this service or pay 255.09 for the full to full which includes insurance which I already have,now upon checking our bank they have taken another 84.45 we do not know why we have emailed no reply and phoned but no answer

So I would suggest to everyone do not use any of the car rental companies at the airport,try and find a local company to your area,does anyone know of a company in the San Miguel,villa Martin area

If you are using Alicante airport then try Edirentacar.com They are a very well established, family run business that will not rip you off. We have used them for many years and everyone we have recommended them to has been very happy with the service they have had. The price they quote is the price you pay - no hidden extras, no nasty surprises. Also includes second driver free, age appropriate car seats and fuel in the car. Quick pick-up too.

Hi, we fly into Alicante and use Wheels In Spain. They meet you at Costa Coffee at the airport, take your details, hand the car over, and meet you there again when you go home. Handover takes a couple of minutes. Always been on time, good reliable cars, friendly service, no rip offs and half full/half full petrol. Made our lives so much easier.

Just had a four day rental for 85 euros.

Hi,

Just read this, we have had loads of trouble with car hire company’s in Spain.

We now use a company called zest car hire, they look for the best deal for you, but it comes with the damage waiver insurance, so you can’t get ripped off. They also refunded my money immediately during COVID with no hassle.

Always get full to full anything else seems to end in tears.,also consider using a credit card as I have had success getting my money back via them.

We did try Edi car rental but we’re a little expensive, I always research using trip adviser which gives you an insight to who your dealing with...

Interestingly I use Centuro Car Hire and have done for years since my bad experience of Gold Car before we even had left the airport car pick up point

For a long time I used to use St Javier airport, but since its closure it's become easier to go to Alicante.

The problem is that as British and it's like having a target that says "Rip off mug in sight" I have recently taken to using my Irish passport just to make things easier in working in other EU countries.

Last October I arrived at Alicante (coming from Italy) to pick up the hire car. It's at least 10 years since I used the facilities got to the hire counter presented said passport (Wife travels on Brit Passport) given 2 grade upgrades free - because I was not considered a Brit!!

Isn't life strange how UK is being viewed
