Latest date of rollout is now November 2023.

"The EU has confirmed that British citizens will be eligible for ETIAS when it is launched in November 2023. This means that UK nationals will not need a visa for short stays in Europe after Brexit but an ETIAS visa waiver will be required."

"The ETIAS program will be in force from 2023 onward and is intended to screen travellers arriving from overseas as a response to the global increase in terrorist activities."
I wouldn't worry, you'll be given plenty of notice.

The new ETIAS scheme, due in next year, will work like the US visa-waiver scheme. You will submit your details and €7 fee, and you will get clearance to travel as long as your medical, criminal, terror, drug, war and previous deportation history does not thow any red flags up. It should only take minutes and if I remember correctly, it lasts for at least 2 years, for multiple trips?

Once ETIAS has been approved, it will be valid for a period of 3 consecutive years, or until the traveller’s passport expires.

Yes, ETIAS required from Nov 2023, but as it stands a 6 months grace period will also be applicable. It will be valid for 3 years or until your passport expires, if less than 3 years left. It will cost Seven Euros for those aged 18 to 70, otherwise free. Unfortunately, move forward to May 2024 and I’m sure there will be posts on here complaining that they didn’t know they needed one, or just didn’t bother!. But that’s life.
