Does anyone know how strict they are if you overstay your 90 allowance.   I’m looking at 4 days extra would I picked up

Thx

Is this 94 days all in one go? or a number of visits leaving you a with a 4 days overstay?

If all in one go then you are making it very easy to get caught out. A number of visits makes it less noticeable and the border staff aren't going to be bothered looking back too far.

I would avoid an overstay if possible.

Hello

There was a topic on here recently and a couple posted that they were stopped for a minor motoring offence ---when their details were checked they were told firmly that  they had overstayed  (by a few days), issued with a fine & told to leave Spain  immediately!  Unsure wh...

...ether fine was for motoring offence or overstaying but they left within 1/2 days!

Cheers

Elinspain

Yes, I could understand that happening, but not the police visiting because they had overstayed one day.

I have seen a stamp in a passport of a friend who overstayed in uk. Banned for three years to enter the UK. So it is not only Spain. With strict passport checks, recently introduced within Shengen zone, to curb illegal immigration, I wouldn't risk it.

I imagine most countries will have penalties for overstaying but to be banned for 3 years it must have been a serious offence, possibly more than just overstaying?

I suspect it is a bit like russian roulette, you'll get away with for some trips but eventually they will spot that you have overstayed. Then they will probably look back through your passport and pick up on the other times you have overstayed.. Then they will fine you, if you are a regular overs...

...tayer they may even give you a ban on re-entry for a period of time, certainly they will give you an increased fine.

While you are fined and possibly banned for some time you'll still have to pay your Spanish bills! It's not worth the risk.

Rgds,

Aitch.

However 'entitled' you consider yourself to be with such cavalier regard for the rules it can only be a question of when not if until you get caught and once tagged an overstayer you will find yourself under additional scrutiny ever after.

If you value your time in Spain it's simply not worth it

Hi Darro,

I think your post is meant for Paweysmart?

How strict is the 90-day rule in Spain?Entry bans – If you're caught travelling in Spain – or any other Schengen country – past the 90-day period, you could be banned from re-entering for up to 3 years. Prison sentences – Staying in Spain for over 90 days in any 180 days without a valid visa can result in jail time.
