We lived and worked in various E. European countries and developed eyes in the back of our heads. we both got done incidentally.
We could write a good list of what we saw and experienced "Every day". Sometimes even the police were a party to the dirty deeds.
Here in Spain (CdS) we had a Bar/Pizza place and we thwarted many attempted thefts but not all unfortunately. But we were given a wide berth by most of those that had tried. Haven't seen much here in Torrevieja apart from the contraband and dubious substances but then again we are just old fogies with wide open eyes and people awareness.
