If you can't sort it yourself, you could try Fonefix at San Luis - a couple of Brit guys who know what they're doing:
That wouldn't stop the letters from working.
Sounds more to me like a duff keyboard but my first step would be to remove it in the device manager then reboot the machine.

OP says "keyboard letters are blocked" not producing numbers.
Also we don't know what sort of keyboard is in question, if it's a seperate item as associated with a PC then in all probability it will have a discrete number pad in which case numock will have no effect on the letters.
