Correct spelling but incorrect terminology. It might be in common use, but it's not the right term.

A search of the entire forum might well produce more results, but as the OP was having difficulty enough I attempted to help by narrowing it down to where he could find the details he wanted.

Go to Jim's Guides it's all there in one place.

Also, register with GOV.UK Living in Spain and request email updates, daily or weekly.

As for proof of income, when renting it depends on the owner, best thing is to message them and ask. My experience has been (if at all) they will want you to show that your monthly income is at least 3 times the rental.

Can't someone please just give me a list of documents required for residence?

I have looked everywhere I can think of but seem to get nowhere. Someone out there must have successfully applied so please help me.

Basically you will need to sign on the foreigners register and apply for residency within the first 90 days of living in Spain.

You will need these documents to apply for residency:

NIE if you have one, if not then one will be assigned.

Proof of healthcare cover for you.

Proof of income which is enough to satisfy the authorities you won't become a burden on the state. Currently between €750 - €900 per month or some will accept a big lump sum that is in a Spanish bank account.

I was asked for 3 months bank statements from a Spanish bank account with income payments from the previous 3 months.

You might be asked to produce a padron which is less than 3 months old.

Passport.

I was asked for 2 Passport sized photos.

Do loads of photocopies of everything.

I think I've covered everything...

Not quite covered everything Steve. Moving here next year, unless agreement is reached to the contrary, will entail getting a long-term visa from the Spanish consulate before making the move.

Thx, but my enquires were a couple of years ago .... all long sorted.

Btw, I got residency 6 weeks after arriving here - lucky to get cancellation appointments for my wife and myself - couldn't show Spanish bank statements for previous 3 months, only for previous few weeks showing money I'd transferred to Spain (not much) only use of account was to pay for residency (2 X €12 transferred) - took English and German statements along showing income. No photos required. A few Spanish police and the health insurance checker had a bit of a chat about us looking through our paperwork (without including us as we don't speak Spanish) and then we got it - in and out in an hour. Maybe we were just lucky

Thanks Jim I'd forgot about the Visa, to busy trying to remember from 6 years ago what paperwork I had to gather together. Feel sorry for those wanting to live here from next year.
