There are many countries where an opposing view isn’t welcome, Russia, China, North Korea, to name a few. Fortunately in Britain all sides of an argument are allowed to be heard. I am from Germany, live in Britain and had a 2nd home in Santa Pola. (Lost it recently because of Covid)
I was against Brexit, until I heard the arrogance and hatred from a few remainers. I listened to their opinions but noticed they refused to hear the other side, merely mocking them and suggesting they didn’t know what they were talking about. I listened, researched, educated myself and had my v...

You have every opportunity, on these pages, to put your view across.
Obviously I’m not, according to you and a few others, if my view is different.I’ll bid you good day, and turn off my notifications on this thread.
Bang on...the remoaners who still cry on, and call those who voted Brexit bigots remind me why I voted out (that and having worked for the EU and witnessing every day how corrupt they are). And then for a remoaner who hasn't even lived in the UK for years to moan on, and call Gypsy's thieves is irony beyond belief.

Balmer9, I wrote a satirical poem about Brexit. It's poetry not a political statement, but if you choose to take it that way, and quote something out of context that you don't appear to have read, then shame on you for your ignorance and bigotry. The poem is satire which includes exaggeration and poking fun at things. I posted it as a piece of entertainment, but unfortunately, it seems to have created an argument between Brexiteers and Remainers with the Brexiteers being most vocal in their criticisms, and seemingly very thin-skinned about the whole affair. I recommend you develop a sense of humour; it will serve you well to have one.

Sense of humour? You are a bigotted racist. You have categorised an ethnic group of people as thieves ( as protected under the equality act 2010). The rest of the one sided inaccurate garbage isn't even worth commenting on..

I don't know what your problem is Balmer9, but Imight suggest you speak to somebody about your anger management issues and sensitivity. If one line in a satirical poem makes me a bigoted racist, then so be it.

A load of rubbish about the past - catch up with the current situation and write something constructive.

As you’re so keen on poetry, could you now please write one from the opposing view point?
I’m sure we’d all be very keen to read your second honest and balanced creation.

Since I had no thought or intention to offend anybody when I wrote the line that you are so up in arms about, I have changed it.
It now reads
And yet swallowed hook, line and sinker
With less thought than Rodin’s thinker.

It doesn't work that way. I write these poems as inspiration strikes me. In fact, since writing Brexit, I've written at least a dozen different pieces on a variety of subjects. They are also, generally, posted on this forum, and they will all be availbale in a Kindle book being published later this year, along with two other books I'm working on. But thanks for the suggestion.
