This is incorrect. I've been out and back into Alicante airport 4 times in the last few weeks and each time offered my Residencia and was waved through without even a passport check.

Please don't post misleading information.

Steve

I am sure you have, however I came back through a sea port at the weekend and did exactly the same and was told to produce my passport which was duly stamped.

So not misleading information just different locations and different people. Pays your money takes you chance.

You're right, it's very much hit or miss at the moment. Spain is gradually installing digital e-gates at all airports and once that's complete I think we'll start to see more consistency.

They border staff don't differentiate between residents and non residents, as a UK passport holder your passport will be stamped. They are not concerned with your residency status.

When you do return (which will probably be after the 90 days) that's when your residency card will negate any prosecution for overstay. ...

...

I flew back to uk on Saturday from Murcia- showed both passport and tie card - my passport was stamped.  I have always returned to uk from Alicante in the past and they haven’t stamped it.

I suggest you have both Passport and TIE card handy when you get to passport control. TIE card easy to keep with your bank cards in your purse or wallet so offer the TIE card to the customs officer first to save your passport being stamped if it doesn't need to be. I think your inside leg measurement is stored on the card as well as everything else ;-)

..... simple
