Hi Dave

We have recently purchased a holiday home in Sax. After finishing an extensive renovation of our home we are looking to relocate next January and have been over every month since January this year, we have  met a lot of expats based in Sax and have to say it is a very friendly town with a la...

...rge expat community.

The shops in town are really extensive from everyday supermarkets to dress alterations, bakers, butchers, Iron mongers, pet shop, furniture store, electrical appliances, and even a kitchen showroom as well.

The market on a Monday has a great range of locally grown fruit & Veg. and leather goods and everyday items.

I'm not sure if there is a vet in town but I would think the neighbouring towns of Villena, Peter, and Elda will have a surgery.

Sax has a great range of bars and restaurants as well with a big cafe culture as you would epect in Spain. We can't wait to move full time and enjoy the laid back lifestyle.Good luck with your house hunting and relocation.

John

We use Crivalcan vets. If you find Victoria's bar there is a sign directing you to Crivalcan about 200 metres up a side street. They speak some English and have been excellent. There is a good rastro in Petrer behind Bassa el Moro centre which sells a mix of second hand and new furniture. they deliver and assemble it too. I also know of good inexpensive accommodation in a self contained casita. Message me privately for details if you wish.

HI Dave

Sax has a second hand store just up the road from Victoria's bar it has a good selection  of furniture along with new sofas and beds.

There is also a furniture shop just down fro the Sax Kebab shop with beds ans sofas as well.

Pinoso has a second hand store as well.

Try Sax buying and selling on Facebook and Pinoso buying and selling as well

John

Rastro Reto behind the Bassa el Moro shopping centre at Petrer has lots of bargain furniture, much of it traditional Spanish but other things too. They do free delivery and assembly too.

Hi,

Pinoso has a strong ex pat community. It is about 30 minutes inland and is a small town with a good sprinkling of British owned bars nad restaurants along with the usual Spanish ones. There are supermarkets there, takeaways and a small market on saturday. The animal charity shop is brit owned and a hub for meeting in their cafe. There are estate agents in town. We live in Sax which has quite a few ex pats but is a lot more Spanish and we drive now and then out to Pinoso for decent English food. A lot of places may meet your requirements. La Romana or Hondon de las Nieves are good examples and worth a look. A lot closer to the coast there are towns such as Algorfa which are within easy reach of big resorts such as torrevieja but still retaining a lot of original character. Good luck.

Hi there does anybody know of any auction houses/charity places where we can buy furniture from please dave

Try Rastro Reto behind Bassa el Moro in Petrer. They are an anti drugs charity and have furniture both new and old. They also have a larger store near Alicante and they deliver. you cannot miss Bassa el Moro, a large shopping mall  easily visible from the A31 and signposted for the Centro Commercial at Petrer.  Antonios in Pinoso does second hand items too.

There is a very good vet - Centro Veterinario Crivalcan, Francisco Cossio  in Sax (on the El Plano side of town) and we have used her on a couple of occasions for our return trip preparations for our dog

Hi everyone!

I’m in the process of renovating my house in Sax, (new roof, electricity, plombing, kitchen, bathroom etc..). Ideally I would like to receive 3 offers from reliable entrepreneurs at reasonable prices. Any recommendations (preferably from companies who can do everything). Thanks a lot! Karine
