I'm currently in the process of buying a property in Spain and as a UK resident I had to complete an ACRO check. Since we have left the EU and the area I am buying is of military significance I also have to apply for a military permit. One of the consequences of Brexit unfortunately.

I have completed my non lucrative visa and it is the acro you need not CRB ,the consulate will not accept any thing other than the acro and it has to be translated into Spanish and apostled.

Yes, depending on where you buy a property. Living quite close to a military zone (Cartagena) the area extends to north of Torrevieja as a British (third country) citizen you would have to complete military checks, not only increasing the completion time of your purchase between 4 - 6 months, it’s also quite an expensive process.

I never knew that. That will put a lot off buying, where will it all end. Lots of empty property I suspect. Making many areas look very unappealing to any potential buyers. Are you saying these checks are for any third country nationals now including the UK.
