Hi

I have done this recently one of the ways to do this is use a currency exchange company used currencies direct but there are others. It is a simple process just ring there up and they will talk you through it.  The advantage is you get a better rate than you bank and they will transfer the m...

...oney to the other account. Hopefully this helps and someone else may have a better idea.

Cheers Andy

We have recently sent money over to spain for a purchase we opened an account with Sabadel. They do not charge for receiving as long at it is less than €49000 per transaction  .so we transferred over several transactions. But be warned when our Solicitor transferred the final amount to the sellers Solicitors Sabadell charged us €377 for doing this if we were informed of this we could have transferred it in smaller amounts with know charged so ask first.they are not as upfront as the banks back in U.K. Something else to be aware of if we use any other cash point than theirs they charge you£1.50 for the privilege.

When we purchased our apartment we used one of the currency companies to convert sterling to euros and transfer the money to our Sabadell account, this incurred no fees but be aware that when the funds are then transferred to complete the purchase the Bank will then apply sizeable fees.

We have a sabadell account and when we did the transfer for our property they made individual transfers...keeping it below a certain amount....thereby no fees incurred, I thought that was pretty decent of them.

What I was referring to was when you actually pay for your property, that is when the Bank charges it's fees particularly if they issue a sizeable cheque.

Try Transferwise ,when a/c set up on line money normally transfers same day very good rates and simple system, you will need a spanish iban (a/c number) of agent or bank. I can reccomend Banca Sabadell no charges on a current and 1% refund on direct debits you pay through them lots of branches so...

... no problem with cashpoints I live ina small village and there are three ATM's within 2 miles  CJ.

Is it not the case that Sabadell only offer a free current account to residents who pay all of their pension/income directly into their account? As a non resident I'm charged €130 p.a. plus charges for a non-resident declaration for both myself and my wife. Bankia offer free banking to non residents I believe.

One thing to be aware of....crurrencies direct/TorFX...all the major players will not charge you a fee but the rate you get will be a little way off the mid market rate (in fact they explicitly state the the mid market rate is not available to personal customers). This difference is how they make their money.

Transferwise do charge a fee (which can be minimised by transferring the cash to them by Bank Transfer and not by using your debit card) but they do give the mid market rate on the day (and they make both the fee and the rate very visible on their front screen).

I have often compared the various companies and Transferwise have always had a slightly better end result (i.e more Euros appear in the bank) than the others.

Take a look at https://transferwise.com/es?lang=en...it will show you the fee, rate and what you would get for your money.

Tony333 is correct about the companies he mentions but a small point to watch for us they sometimes, in the time it takes you to complete their application form, give you a lower exchange rate than what it was when you started the process, claiming it is a live rate they refuse to honour what it was when you clicked on "but now". Gangsters is the word that comes to mind.

Need to pay house deposit asap and then the balance

Thank you

Hi Fx transfer your money free of charge with a really good exchange rate.

It takes minutes to open an account with them then you transfer your money online or over the phone.
