If you’re running a Samsung or LG smart TV you don’t require any other device at all, no firestick, no android TV box.... nothing...... apps available for both those models to stream content directly.

Firestick needs updates and reports turned off to secure it, VPN not required if streaming side is set up properly.

It’s not a smart tv here in Spain.  It’s an older Panasonic one

Hi Dave

Well....I've got the Fire Stick and it's set up attached to my spare tv here in the UK.  I have downloaded Downloader and Filelinked and the home screen shows all the good tv apps like BBC iPlayer, ITV, 4 and my Amazon Prime stuff.

All of these things work here.  I've checked out several youtube videos on the subject and am not sure if I need to do anything else.  I do NOT have a VPN, as advised, so my question is this.  When I come out to Spain in a couple of weeks with the stick can I just plug it into my telly there and start watching UK programmes?

I have access to next door's wifi (with her permission) but maybe I should subscribe to a service of my own, like Telecable for example, just to make things a bit more robust.  Looking forward to seeing if this works.  Grateful for your help and any further advice about anything I may have missed.

Michael, La Siesta

Hi Michael, have you tried your Amazon fire stick in Spain yet?, and how does the Amkazon Prime content compare to what you get in UK?

I have a UK subseqription to Amazonj Prime and am considering getting a Firestick, I had read that whilst you can still get your Prime in Spain, it is much reduced?

Yes Peter, I arrived on Monday and it is working fine.  I’m actually dropping Amazon Prime though because my other half has subscribed to Netflix and we are sharing that.  So far everything seems to work the same as in England.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Yes my UK Prime content works fine here but I have told Vodafone that I no longer want it as part of the entertainment bundle attached to my mobile plan.  It’s still there but not for much longer presumably.  I’m amazed that it works here, along with Netflix.  I’m accessing UK tv programmes via MOBDRO as well so, fingers crossed, all good.  I went for the £29.99 stick from Curry’s.  I told them what I wanted it for and they said that the more expensive 4K version was not needed.

Maybe I misunderstood what you meant when you said ...

Might not work in uk without a vpn

You do not need vpn, just get the downloader app and then filelinked , but look on you tube and it will show you everything you need.

You will need a vpn in the UK if you want to watch subscription channels

      sky etc.

Ok, I’ve taken Sam67’s advice on here and ordered this gadget.  I never usually get sucked into the Black Friday nonsense but I thought £20 off the usual price was reasonable.  I’ve gone for the best one available which is the 4K version (might as well I suppose).  It’s du...

I may be back at the La Siesta abode in January so I shall bring the device and see if it gives me free UK tv programmes.  I know that it needs a WiFi connection here and that is in place.

So.....fingers crossed 🤓

I brought my fire stick with me when I recently came to Spain and I'm glad I did or all I'd be watching is Spanish TV (no disrespect but my Spanish is still at novice stage)

As a suggestion go to www. firesticktricks.com and follow the guides and you will can download various apps for all sorts of TV channels.

Since that original post in 2019 I’ve hooked up to Connect Fibra’s cable system.  Excellent broadband and for only 10€ more per month I get their tv service.  All the UK channels I want including catch up going back a week or two.  Very happy with that, and I’m using my own Fire stick rather than their cheaper slower version.

My UK Netflix account is working well too but it’s disappointing that Prime Video is now unavailable post-Brexit.  Every time I click on something it says not available in your area.  Annoying that but it’s just another irritation about this whole bus
