Myself and my husband, are booked to go to Torrevieja this August,  I am a bit scared, this year with all the talk about not going away this year.

I think you're right to be worried, I have little confidence in holiday makers properly observing social distancing and the other precautions which have got Spain to where it is now and if I were in UK you wouldn't catch me holidaying here or anywhere.

My opinion is you should go and adhere to the rules.

Of course people on the forum will try to put you off. I am a second home owner and can’t wait to come over on the 11th August  and spend my hard earned money getting the economy going.

I agree, having arrived today, social distancing is being adhered to very very well where I am, I was a little anxious reading some comments on here before I came out, but all in all its been fine, whether that may change? Who knows,  but we as a family are coming out in August for 3 weeks, and are looking forward to it already , but ultimately it's you're decision

We are in Spain and were cycling around the lakes last week, though La Mata and back to our car in Torrevieja. People were very respectful everywhere we stopped and that has been the case wherever we’ve been, including Alicante, Benidorm, Santa Pola and Gran Alacant!  We saw a few police cars parked up making sure that rules are adhered to. I’m more concerned about our return to England and would happily stay here if we could! Talking to everyone back home, we feel the whole situation has been better managed here!

Hi. I’ve been in Benijófar just a few miles from Torrevieja since lockdown started   We are finally due to return to Wales later on this month   Personally I’m more nervous leaving Spain than staying here. My daughter tells me it’s like being back to normal now in the UK and not in a good way.   The authority’s in Torrevieja have the situation mostly under control and with a few extra precautions life is pretty much now carrying on in the typical Spanish way. In short don’t be scared to come to Torrevieja as your probably safer here than home. Come over with no worries and enjoy yourselves.

We will be holidaying there in August. I am as capable of social distancing as any expats who live in Spain. Whatever you see on the biased BBC most of us are doing ok here in UK thank you

As you mention the lakes and La Mata I wonder if I might ask a question?  I have a second home on the La Siesta urbanisation and we often cross the parque natural on our bikes heading for La Mata, going alongside the blue lake part of the way.

My question is regarding the temperatures and the mosquito problem.  I get eaten alive whenever I visit and am worried about making my first visit since January (in a couple of weeks time).  I was there last July and vowed never to visit again at that time but with what has been happening this year I need to get out there to check my house is ok.

I check the BBC weather site regularly and the temperatures seem to be around 30 degrees (feeling like nearly 40) so were you bothered by mosquitoes much at the moment?  I'd love to hear that they have given the lakes a good spray to keep them down, but I doubt if that is so.  What can you tell me about that particular problem?

We weren’t bothered by them at all and they love my husband! We were cycling in the heat and it was fabulous. Hopefully you will be fine and can enjoy your second home.
