Seen a group of 5 people approach 2 cops on Saturday afternoon chatted for a few minutes smiled then walked on 99% certain they were Spanish. Not one mask in sight from the group although the coppers had theirs on, so much for Spanish abiding by the rules and the law enforcing the rules.Have seen many people and staff in shops, supermarkets who have the masks on their chins, last Sept when we were across, in a supermarket you would be pulled up within seconds of entering

Maybe now it is a "Who gives a sh**" attitude. Certainly seems that way.

Have to disagree,I walk through Benidorm every day, wear my mask religiously, don't like it,see no reason ,but it is the law.

I have repeatedly done an on the hoof survey, counting those with and without masks and sub divided where possible into nationality, drives the wife mad.

Spanish compliance is no better or worse than any other nationality ,50% ,with mainly people below 50 being the worst and of those females being in the majority.Next come the Eastern Europeans followed by the  Norwegian and Dutch followedy by the British.

The bars in the new town, those still open, actively request the Covid certificate passports be shown and enforce the no smoking on the terraces .I have seen a few customers turned away without a cert ,mainly expat " regulars" ,the tourists need reminding of the mask rules as in the UK it is not the same regime, but in the main they comply once they are reminded.

I see the usual amount of police patrolling ,very reassuring, they do not seem to notice the non compliance and seem to have given up on insisting e scooter riders wear helmets .

Wednesday's is the worst day for non mask wearing ,market day and the majority of non compliance  in the bars is by expat visitors and their friends.

Life goes on and hopefully sanity will return as the year progresses.

I live in Benidorm and also walk about every day too.........

I bet you are full of extraordinary interesting facts and figures..........

Do you ever wonder why you are sitting alone in a local bar? 🤔

Tbf in Vila Joyosa very few people wear masks including the police, everyone seems much more relaxed about the whole thing, here its mainly Spanish but there are a few British expats.

You may not but you could pass covid onto someone else who may be vulnerable!!

Such a selfish attitude. Hope you don't holiday in Benidorm....

At least some people can think for themselves.  Embarrassing to be wearing a mask in the fresh air 😂#antiscience

I agree, I walked along Torrevieja front and the people sat at the bars with seating right out on the prom. Is it really logical that as I walk past, I have a mask on and all of them haven’t. 🤔

I think folk just need to worry about themselves. Do what you have to do to keep safe and you'll be fine.

If the authorities don't actively enforce the rules there is little you can do in any case.

Apparently, delta or omicron does not reach to table level or dangle-masks on wrists, necks etc. People will then "pop" it back on their mouths & nose, breathe in & feel safe. Watch the news. We're all saved (aren't we & others?). V
