Here in the UK it is a very hit and miss situation on mask wearing.  There's plenty of "we advise you to wear one" notices but many, thankfully, are taking the sensible option and leaving it in their pockets, or at home.  I took a train to York yesterday and visited the National Railway Museum and walked a bit on the Roman walls.  I saw very few people wearing a mask outside although there were some on the train wearing one.  It's got to the stage now where you either wear one or you don't - it's down to personal choice and I am happy with that.  I won't bother anyone hiding half of their face for no good reason and I don't expect anyone to bother me for breathing in the fresh, Autumnal air.

Life is going on again but we still have nonsensical situations like Glastonbury is cancelled and yet the IOW Festival went ahead last weekend (50,000 or so in Seaclose Park enjoying open air music).  I've been in several big football and cricket crowds lately and feel perfectly safe doing so.  Normality reigns once more.  Well, NEARLY normal, but you know what I mean!

Well you obviously know best Michael!!

You do as you like but here in Spain we like to follow the rule and take guidance from experts ( which you are not)

Totally agree with you Michael ,am convinced people will go to their grave wearing masks ,and of course that is their right ,I wear when rule dictates as yesterday in a company of 5 in local wetherspoons, you have to wear when attending bar and going to toilet ,but I cant wait to get back to seat so mask can be removed ,I think the rule regarding wearing in shops will be around for a while yet

Hello

Well said Steve, Why is this gentleman still arguing about mandatory mask wearing  in Spain, while living in the UK?

I would suggest instead of coming back here now, he stays in the UK until the rules in Spain change.

Cheers

I think we all have our opinions on mask wearing ,but you must admit if you  sit at a table you can be mask free but pass a table mask has to be on ,seems crazy to me ,just as you can share a bed but not travel in a car together ,illogical

Oh that's your suggestion is it Elinspain?  Have you appointed yourself Chief of the Spanish Border Force squad?

If it's ok with you I will go to MY PROPERTY in Spain whenever I choose to, or rather, whenever the stupid Schengen Zone rules allow me to.  I'm terribly sorry if I have an opinion about global mask wearing (NOT Spanish) that doesn't accord with yours but that's the way it is.  I've managed to get through life, including forty years of military service, without coming to any grief so far, mostly by adhering to rules and regulations when necessary but, more importantly, by using my own common sense.  I made a good choice back in 1970 choosing a blue uniform instead of khaki - we were always encouraged to use our initiative you see, rather than following "rules" blindly, without question.

It amuses me when people like you post replies to subjects like this.  It seems that you and tebo53 (and a few others) are quite happy to criticise anyone with an opposite view.  Tell me, if you will, how you believe that it is perfectly safe to sit at the table and eat and drink, unmasked of course,  when it's not safe to walk by a foot or two away unless you are masked up.  Please - go on, indulge me! - tell me your theory on that little scenario.  It makes no sense to me - it really doesn't.

I'll wait....

Can't remember the last time I went in a pub.  They have no interest for me.

Life and soul - me?  You will never know!

I assume the reason people are not asked to wear masks while eating and drinking at a table is because they are eating and drinking. Presumably they are asked to wear masks while moving around ibecause they are more likely to spread their germs more widely. It doesn’t seem that complicated to me, and I’d rather have a stranger cough into a mask than over me.

I think you would be very unlucky for a stranger to cough over you ,but if it makes you feel better  keep wearing a mask
