I think you would be very unlucky for a stranger to cough over you ,but if it makes you feel better  keep wearing a mask

As you probably know,  a mask is more to protect others than the person wearing it. .It does make me feel better to do that, so thanks very much for giving me permission  to do so.

You certainly dont need my permission to wear a mask ,just as I do nt need your permission to be maskless  each to their own

“To each his own” isn’t really how laws and regulations work. And many people consider how they are impacting other people when deciding how to behave. Others less so. You obviously have a fixed position on masking, and a forum discussion won’t change it. I think I have answered the question posited by yourself and Michael, so I’ll call it a day.

You can do as you like in the UK but don't bring that attitude here to Spain. I'd like to see you tell the Guardia Civil that you don't need their permission not to wear a mask 😉

Ok, so this nonsense is still going on then, ie where you are perfectly safe from floating germs while SITTING at a table, but at risk if walking PAST a table.  It's stupid and needs ditching.  I hope most establishments are being a bit more sensible about it now, not that I will be fre...

...quenting many bars and restaurants during my next visit from early October.

Here in the UK it is a very hit and miss situation on mask wearing.  There's plenty of "we advise you to wear one" notices but many, thankfully, are taking the sensible option and leaving it in their pockets, or at home.  I took a train to York yesterday and visited the National Railway Museum and walked a bit on the Roman walls.  I saw very few people wearing a mask outside although there were some on the train wearing one.  It's got to the stage now where you either wear one or you don't - it's down to personal choice and I am happy with that.  I won't bother anyone hiding half of their face for no good reason and I don't expect anyone to bother me for breathing in the fresh, Autumnal air.

Life is going on again but we still have nonsensical situations like Glastonbury is cancelled and yet the IOW Festival went ahead last weekend (50,000 or so in Seaclose Park enjoying open air music).  I've been in several big football and cricket crowds lately and feel perfectly safe doing so.  Normality reigns once more.  Well, NEARLY normal, but you know what I mean!

Why does it bother you so much that other people are wearing masks?

Oh that's your suggestion is it Elinspain?  Have you appointed yourself Chief of the Spanish Border Force squad?

If it's ok with you I will go to MY PROPERTY in Spain whenever I choose to, or rather, whenever the stupid Schengen Zone rules allow me to.  I'm terribly sorry if I have an opinion about global mask wearing (NOT Spanish) that doesn't accord with yours but that's the way it is.  I've man...

...aged to get through life, including forty years of military service, without coming to any grief so far, mostly by adhering to rules and regulations when necessary but, more importantly, by using my own common sense.  I made a good choice back in 1970 choosing a blue uniform instead of khaki - we were always encouraged to use our initiative you see, rather than following "rules" blindly, without question.

It amuses me when people like you post replies to subjects like this.  It seems that you and tebo53 (and a few others) are quite happy to criticise anyone with an opposite view.  Tell me, if you will, how you believe that it is perfectly safe to sit at the table and eat and drink, unmasked of course,  when it's not safe to walk by a foot or two away unless you are masked up.  Please - go on, indulge me! - tell me your theory on that little scenario.  It makes no sense to me - it really doesn't.

I'll wait....

He has his views on global mask wearing .............. each country set their own standards .................. and he was in the forces so he feels that he knows better than the need to follow the rules.

Enjoy you trip to Spain - I hope that you flout the rules and pay lots of fines to the authorities to help boost the Spanish economy

I dont know where you got this from ,I know my memory is not what it was ,but I know I did not post that, not my way to tell people  what to do ,and  certainly wouldn't be telling people to obey rules, unlike some on here who think its their job to make sure Spains rules are adhered to
