Europcar own Goldcar and they SCAMMED us DO NOT USE THEM TOO MUCH HASSLE :( 

I, too, have come across this Company in a misleading  insurance situation, but this year took the biscuit. I had booked a car in advance, but had to wait over an hour.  When I suggested that this was unacceptable, I was subject to rudeness and abuse - this Company has never heard of training employees in Customer Service.  I will never, ever use Goldcar again. I had the same thing happen to me. When I phoned to ask why they had not relayed the fuel deposit they told me that they had and the amount deducted was a charge for collecting from Alicante airport!

Hello Kenneth - I have just asked for a quote from Lara Cars for an upcoming two week visit.  Sick of the "big boys" ripping me off.  If this works well they have my custom for the foreseeable future!  Regarding meeting at Alicante airport, where does this take place?  Is there someone in arrivals holding a board up?

As far as I know, they meet you at arrivals. I don't hire myself, as I have my own car, but we have friends that use them 4-5 times a year, and have never had anything to complain about. 

I looked at their website and something like 45 out of 46 reviews are five-star and full of praise for the company.  The one exception seems to have misunderstood what he was getting and, thus, gave them one star (very odd!).

I can recommend Lara cars, not the cheapest but no worries about getting your deposit back, they meet you at arrivals with a name board, car is in the carpark which is great as there are no long queues.

Thanks for that Andrew.  I asked for a quote yesterday and am still waiting to hear what it is before booking.  I don't mind paying a bit more for a better and fairer service.  

They do sometimes take a while to reply as it's done manually. I think they list prices on their website, also check your junk folder
