When you get a flat you will obiously not buy a new bike. Replacing the heating element in the oven is far easier as one might think and you can get it for an apple and an egg from any better "Repuestos Electrodomesticos". Those parts are not even restricted to a certain brand.

To isolate if the cause is your oven and not an overload, turn off all the circuit breakers, then switch the oven one on on its own.  If it trips then the cause is the oven.

Most ovens can be fixed fairly easily.  You do NOT need to buy a new one unless it has developed a serious fault by being left in the damp, but that will readily dry out once you open the place up.

Thanks I actually did that last night so def the oven then. I have it open to dry and if that doesn't help I will try to check the elements.

I hope it sorts itself out in a day or two.  If  not you will need to look a bit further.

Why blame the previous owners???

Have you never heard on 'Caveat Emptor'?

'Let the buyer beware'. Your lawyer should have addressed any issues pre-purchase.

I wouldn't call me initial post blaming anyone. Just stating that the previous owners have left the apartment with a few problems. Which they have.

Thanks for your comment though.

We just got the keys to our new apartment and have have fun trying to sort out the problems previous owners left.

Latest one is the Electric cutting out when we try to put the oven on.

I have tried turning all electors off lights etc but it still trips when Input oven on.

Anyone else had this. Just wondering if a new oven is needed or an electric fault.

Thanks.

Our oven hadn't been used for 2 years, and tripped the leccy too.

Domestic Appliance repairer said it had condensation inside, fixed it,and it lasted another 2 years.

Cost was €50,but that was 9 years ago!

Thanks again for your replies. I was getting some electric work done today and asked the guy who was out and he said the oven is caput

I left the door open since yesterday and it is now going on without tripping but only for a few minutes so I looks as though it could be some sort of dampness as suggested.

I will leave it a bit longer and try again.

Good plan.  If you have a fan heater have it blow hot air into the oven space for a few hours.  That might help.

Just sit it on a stool or something in front of the open door.
