Hi.

In Spain there are different strengths of electricity.

If you have the lower voltage you can only use a certain amount of appliances together.

Or

Get an electrician in to change to a higher voltage.

Is your oven old , is it white with round knobs ,  if so just replace oven , ours went , they only last 15 to twenty years,  spose depend on how much you use it ,

We just got the keys to our new apartment and have have fun trying to sort out the problems previous owners left.

Latest one is the Electric cutting out when we try to put the oven on.

I have tried turning all electors off lights etc but it still trips when Input oven on.

Anyone else had this. Just wondering if a new oven is needed or an electric fault.

Thanks.

We had the same problem and it turned out the oven was shorting and that is all that had to be sorted we changed the cooker and problem was solved

I suggest you get an electrician to check the oven first I am sure if your apartment was build long time ago the cooker must be also very old

Good luck

To isolate if the cause is your oven and not an overload, turn off all the circuit breakers, then switch the oven one on on its own.  If it trips then the cause is the oven.

Most ovens can be fixed fairly easily.  You do NOT need to buy a new one unless it has developed a serious fault by being left in the damp, but that will readily dry out once you open the place up.

Hi good advise cold be dampness in oven try turning every thing off then one element at a time may find problem. Ovens are cheep to fix dont get a new one.

The advice about different strengths of electricity is a bit confusing.  What the correspondent means is that you can get different  Kilowatt rated supplies from 3kW to 5kw and if you are very lucky even 10kw.  Most places have 3kW as that is the cheapest rate.  If you go into a higher tariff then you will pay more per kW.

The tariff you are on will make no difference to the problem we are looking at here.

It's interesting that you mention that even with everything turned off it still trips when you are out. Try what I suggested earlier once more.  Turn off all the breakers then just turn on the one for the cooker (ensure the main one is on as well).  If it trips after a while something in your cooker has a problem.  It will not be the elements as these will not be switched on

You could give it a bit more time to dry out if that's the problem, but you might be looking at something more deep-seated.

That is all too common in Spain.

Our new flat was wired with the polarity reversed and sockets incorrectly wired.

In this case I think the oven has worked OK before.

 Hi

I had the same problem and I rang a local electrician who fixed it in about ten minutes . His name is Jose and is Spanish .I have a little Spanish so could communicate but they can use google , I was told I needed a new oven but I didn't . Cost me the costly sum of €30 .   It had something to do with the humidity and the fuse box. his number is 0034691317117 .

Hi does anyone know of English speaking workmen to do kitchen and bathroom refits and put a window in the utility cupboard, plus some electrical outlets . I am looking for next year when I come out April time for the 90 days I’m allowed. I would like a quote so that I can put funds into my Spanish bank account in advance

Thank
