In what way are they putting you off?

We have our home 15 years in Torrevieja

It has EVERYTHING

Bars , nice restaurants   activities for kids, beautiful park, a laid back lifestyle. Beaches on our doorstep.

Even grocery shopping is a pleasure, with all the choices available

Absolutely right Torrevieja has everything, unfortunately as I’ve said before crime is everywhere in the world and in the 30 years I’ve been coming here I’ve felt safe but I still take precautions like I would anywhere in the world.

Hi everyone. We live in London and we’re thinking to move to Torrevieje. I had a look through the satellite. The area looks quite poor, old cars, no a lot going on. We started to wonder maybe it’s area with a high crime rate? Anyone living there? Especially next to the Rosa laguna? Thank you guys xxx

Hello leva

Welcome to the forum.  Torrevieja is a large area with many Urbanisations, can you specify where you are looking so that anyone in and around, can give you some help/advice as several  areas are close to the pink salt lake.

Always come & visit, even for a short time , to check the location before you make any decisions.

Cheers

Lived in spain 10years this area safe as long as you follow a few rules ,lock your doors ,park your car in a well lite area and don't carry too much money or valuables with you ,

In 10 years burglaries 4 times assaulted twice and hijacked from airport once.

I live in Torretta III on the Lake in an urbanisation, over the six years I’ve been there we have had two problem families move in. Their reign of terror lasted three and five weeks each and the police told them to leave. Friendly people and I’ve walked back from the bars at one and two in the morning and never had any problems.

Google is about 4/5 years old, we are into our 4th year in Torreta 2 and our place is like it was before we moved in. As for the cars, the Spanish hang on to their cars usually for over 10 years although there is a jag Ipace or 2 here. Houses in the torretas/San Luis are cheap by any standards. They each have their pros and cons. Before we bought we did not see our neighbours, we were told one side was S American. They were N African, They are nice people and generally very quiet and have spent a lot on their house. The S Americans etc in the area are rather noisy on the music and party front. We have found that torreta 1 / Florida are smelly, floods and lots of Mozzies. Torreta3 has the Mozzies and a good chinese restaurant they tell me. Always full when we have tried to go there.

Crime? Keep your eyes open and know the local dodgy geezers, usually it is the holiday homes that are done. Lock and chain everything outside, Opportunist thieves are the norm as everywhere.

San Luis Appears to be the better bet along the Blue lake. Slightly more expensive but still good value.

All subjective of course!

Bus services into town are quite good (every 40 minutes) Torreta 2 is easy walking distance to Habaneras, Lidl, Mercadona and Carrefour etc.

Horses for Courses!

Ps should the area interest you, I would advise you that the houses on the squares often do not have proper roads and these become quite bad after a bit of rain. Also given the type of houses S facing gets extremely hot in the summer months, E/W are preferable, do not believe tha agents. Read elsewhere all you can, after all 2 bed houses a couple of Ks from the sea for 50K!!
