@GrannyRose "Don’t you think there are enough people losing their jobs without adding to it?"

I am pointing out that he is making mistakes. My wider concern, and therefore an unfounded perception, how many people ARE losing their jobs because of his mistakes?

@RayD - agree

As for your own family, I cannot comprehend how hard it must be for them all and yourself being so far away. Best wishes.

Oh Ray, my husband and I rely on FaceTime but it is not the same. We keep dreaming that one day they will all move over here but how likely is that?  Thankfully, they all love visiting us in Spain and in Northern Ireland whenever they can

The number of times we have flown over to London for an emergency but not so much recently. Couldn’t go even if needed but I would try!

life is too short for all of this.

His son's not autistic.

That one's been widely debunked here in the UK. I t was a lie put about on social media by pro-Tory trolls & the original tweets have now been removed.

End of discussion.

If his son had been autistic that would have gone a long way to legitimsing what he did so why wouldn't he mention it, if it's in the public domain then it wouldn't have been a privacy issue. The journalists would surely have known anyway.

For 4 days The issue has seriously affected the effectiveness of the daily TV Coronavirus updates. Let's not mess around trying to give undeserved sympathy. Give him the boot  and lets all get on with trying to deal with this awful pandemic.

DC described his son as “ vulnerable”. Don’t think he wanted to announce that his son was autistic to the world.

Hi GrannyRose,

What is your source for, "I have just found out this morning that Dominic Cumming’s little 4 year old boy is AUTISTIC" please?

As Stan Bartolome has already posted, this was a rumour put about on social media on Sunday - confirmation of this "fact" cannot be found anywhere.  If it were true, do you not think that Cummings, Johnson and every other Cabinet member who has defended Cummings would have said so?  There are many ordinary citizens who have had to cope with similar and, in many cases, much worse circumstances than Cummings, yet they somehow manage to honour what they have been asked to do.

Kind regards,

Kim

Facebook all day long, I'll wager.

They really should shut that mess of a site down.

UKHandyMan4Hire posted: "I do not know if his wife can drive? It is fair to ask the question if she can then why didn't she?"

Hi HandyMan,

Yes, Cummings' wife CAN drive; as commissioning editor for "The Spectator", she wrote a travel article for the magazine which described a road trip in 2012, including the lines: “I drove for an hour every morning, slaloming past the road-rage wrecks of battered trucks, up the 135 from Dallas to Denton."  I'm sure this experience would more than qualify her to make a 260-mile journey on, predominantly, near-deserted motorway.  So not only was Cummings' drive to "test" his eyesight illegal, this is another reason why it's totally implausible.

Kind regards,

Kim
