Hi GrannyRose,

What is your source for, "I have just found out this morning that Dominic Cumming’s little 4 year old boy is AUTISTIC" please?

As Stan Bartolome has already posted, this was a rumour put about on social media on Sunday - confirmation of this "fact" cannot be found anywhere.  If it were true, do you not think that Cummings, Johnson and every other Cabinet member who has defended Cummings would have said so?  There are many ordinary citizens who have had to cope with similar and, in many cases, much worse circumstances than Cummings, yet they somehow manage to honour what they have been asked to do.

Kind regards,

Kim

Private citizens normally do not hit the "limelight".

When celebrities do, they do.  IE: if one is going to enter the "theatre" of the media they know. Because someone may make a character style "spitting image" type cartoon of them........?

(sorry) page 48 link:

Just an idea

I do admire the compassion shown towards Mr Cummings here, however he did break the rules.

NHS and the UK Government clearly state that;

“Do not leave home if you or someone you live with has any of the following:

a high temperature

a new, continuous cough

a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste”

At the time, the advice was that anyone with symptoms should isolate for seven days, with a 14-isolation for those around them.

His decision to drive up to Durham broke this rule. (1st breach)

His decision to test drive to Barnard Castle broke this rule (2nd breach) and was against the law as your driving license is invalid if your vision is impaired.

His decision to drive back to London on the 12 or 13th April was carried out during a period of self-isolation. (3rd breach).

The government website does give advice about any child care concerns and advises that you contact social services.

John Seldon nailed it in 1654 when he wrote “” Preachers say, “Do as I say, not as I do.'”

As an ex prison officer, I would sometimes work in the reception area of the prison processing the new prisoners and one of the questions to the prisoners is what are you in for. The old lags returning would say “I got caught guv”.

Facebook all day long, I'll wager.

They really should shut that mess of a site down.

I suspect the same, Stan, or even Twitter, but I'm always keen to ensure I have accurate information, so I would like to hear directly from GrannyRose from where she obtained her information?

If someone asserts that others have been lacking in compassion because the accuser is privy to information that others are not, I think it's important that the source of such information is shared.

Kind regards,

Kim

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

There was also a post on a Church of England website which hypothesized, "What if the child had been on the autistic spectrum......"  It will obviously suit some to turn hypothesis into fact, so that's why I think it's important for GrannyRose to confirm her source.

Kind regards

Kim

KIM,

You won’t believe it but my daughter told me this morning!  I shall contact her and enquire where she heard this but I did google before posting and saw several references to it otherwise I would not have passed her information on.  I’m surprised that you don’t believe this. I tend to believe it is true.

Now, on to happier things as I am personally past caring about this topic.

Today was supposed to be dull with possible showers. As a result of this forecast,I asked my husband to take me to the north coast so that I could check out our caravan. No real enthusiasm but he relented and off we set. I packed some food for lunch which he said he wasn’t staying long enough for!  Arrived there and the sky was blue, the beach was stunning and cars were parked all along the prom. It was a joy to behold. We checked the caravan and it was perfect, the grass had been cut and the reeds were poking through the back wall and looked lovely. I cleaned the windows and then we had our lunch before going for a walk on the beach. We stopped for ice creams and walked onto the beautiful sandy beach and down to the water’s edge and along the coast looking over to Donegal.  It was like winning the lottery...well,nearly!  People were out with their children or their dogs and some with their husbands too. It was so beautiful !  As we can’t visit Spain and doesn’t look like we will be going over for some time, we are so thankful to have such a wonderful country to live in. Normally, we have more rain than sunshine and this may well be what we get again but we have been blessed with wonderful weather which makes everyone feel so much happier.  You guys know that as you live in a country with a glorious climate! Before long you will be permitted to use your beaches and I hope that day will be sooner rather than later.
I hope you are all in good spirits and getting out now that things have relaxed somewhat.  Enjoy your lives and take care.

Thank you GrannyRose. That report of your lovely day was very pleasant to read. It’s good to appreciate the everyday things that we sometimes take for granted. Keep well, and best wishes for getting back to Spain in the not too distant future.

Something which I am very surprised hasn't yet been picked up in this whole sorry mess is that Mr Cummings wife wrote an article for The Spectator about her Corona virus experience. If you read this you will seriously doubt whether any compassion for him is needed. Quite apart from misleading the readers that they were in London whilst it all went on she tells us that her child helped 'nurse' her husband and kept taking him drinks. Round about the time he drove to Durham she says he was too ill to get out of bed. It does make me even more convinced that the whole press conference with Mr C explaining his concerns etc was literally a performance. I am sorry but I think both he and Mr Johnson are treating us like idiots.
