Hi, we are a retired couple and thinking of moving and buying a small house or flat in Torrevieja, is there an area you could recommend.  We want to be within walking distance to shopping, and other facilities. We are hoping to join a bowls club so looking for an area with a club nearby. Is San Luis a respectable area? Many thanks, Frances x

Guardamar is a lovely place to live, we own apartments there which are situated right on the edge of the pine and eucalyptus forest through which there are pathways leading down to the magnificent natural sandy beach. I am not sure if you are thinking about renting first but if you are maybe you could visit our web site, www.bradybunch.info x

For a start I'd rent something and, then. look around for a suitable alternative. In no case pay anything upfront to estate agents - that money is gone.

Rent first...and learn about the complications such as future health care, tax on death etc...i.e. tax on your estate...regards

Thanks Neil, planning on coming over for a recci algorfa looks like a nice place.i wonder if there is some sort of club or meeting place where I could talk to people who have already made the move. Would need to rely on public transport for the stay so don't want to be isolated.i wonder if anyone ...

...knows if there is an airport bus service from alicante to all the coastal towns.

There is a bus service from Alicante airport to Torrevieja bus station €7

Both my husband and I would be happy to meet up with you when you get over to Spain...I think if i were making the move now i would choose somewhere in or close to Guaradamar to rent and use that as a base to explore the surrounding area. I would definitely rent first, we have seen many British people not settle as well as they hoped they would and end up selling up and going back to the UK. Guardamar has everything you will need, a bus terminal with buses taking you to every corner of the Costa Blanca very cheaply, i local bus service, medical centre and dentist, major supermarkets etc.,

We now live in Daya Vieja and thats a lovely village and has a brilliant community spirit, with chemist, Doctor, shops, bars and restaurants. Why dont you join a few facebook local pages...Daya Vieja has one, so does Guardamar, but be careful not to soak up too many opininions, the only way you will now if to move to an area and see how you feel...you will very quickly know!

My contact details is on our web site www.bradybunch.info

Hi id like to live in Spain ive got a few things to arrange.

Ive been looking at videos of Torrevyija check my spelling ... im coming first of all for 2 months October  and November  to have a feel of the place. Ive never been before but it does look wonderful.

My family are concerned that im coming alone so will have no one to help me sort things out.

Then if all my plans go right for me as im ideally going to let out my property but will need to get a 1 bedroom flat as my base... Im un-sure of how to work things out luckily im able to get from my fathers side an Italian Passport.

But im un-sure of a lot of things and any suggestions will be gladly received..

Thanks and i hope to have some feedback

She will require a Pet Passport, the rules for which have changed with Brexit, but your vet should be able to advise you. It will require proof of anti rabies vaccination and various other  conditions.

Presume you are aware of all the legal demands now that Britain has left the EU, but presumably your proposed Italian passport will relieve some of the more onerous demands. But to take up residence you may still need to prove some level of income requirement as well as proof of private healthcare in place. You should make enquiries of the Spanish Embassy in the first instance to ascertain what they require.

Be advised that if you will need to obtain employment, this is likely to be extremely difficult unless you have desirable professional qualifications, you will also need a working knowledge of the language. Once you have established all the conditions, you can then contact property agencies.
