Italy uses to nice (north) but now the problem is the same plus it's also littered with homeless Africans sleeping on the streets , begging outside supermarkets and trying to "charge" for reserving your car space....never used to be like that. Shame because it's a beautiful country.

We go back to Italy regularly, the Ligurian coast (Loano to Alassio), There are no parking touts and the immigrants at the supermarkets are helpful as against sitting on the ground begging. They try to help and if possible get tips or the 50c etc from the trolley although really there is not much difference. I lived in Italy for 30 years until 2007 it was just too expensive for us. I was in Rome and Naples for a couple of years and parking touts abounded just like in Malaga today. Palermo in the summer was the same but then again at Los Alamos (Malaga) 1E  illegal parking was the norm on waste land near the beach about 3 years ago.

Cities everywhere today are risky and one needs to have eyes in the back of your head and be constantly aware of the people around you.

However we digress somewhat about the best way to complain.

My wife's from Como, although beautiful the lake now is floating with rubbish. The Africans ruin it by drinking daily in the streets, one tried standing in front of my 2year old (at the time) daughter for money....he soon realised that was a huge mistake. So for me everywhere has its faults, we're still alive and living abroad so we really shouldn't complain, we have alot more than some people.

I do this regularly, but I got complaints because these stones had been placed on the dirt tracks to improve access and should be returned there instead of being thrown away. Now I keep only the area outside my house clear of weeds and all sorts of debris and ignore the rest,  usually ! The ...

...people that live on the dirt tracks appear to be quite happy with the mud, use of gravel etc to fill the holes. The whole area is slowly degrading, partially due to Brexit, and rented occupation!!

TO EVERYONE! Please stop blaming Brexit for every little thing it's getting to the point of stupidity. Honestly I'm scared to burp in private in case someone says it's Brexit related

I’m happy to blame brexit for the problems it has so obviously caused.NLVs,Spanish driving tests extra expense for people retiring to Spain, and division across generations particularly within families.Just a few things related to wanting to live in Spain. How many time on this forum do you read that someone wants to come and live and work in Spain only to be very disappointed when the reality is pointed out?

Yes but thats not got anything to do with a road being cleaned has it? I said people blame everything on Brexit and they shouldn't.

The only reason Brexit was mentioned is because over half of the Brits I knew within a half km have sold up saying that the extra complications tipped it for them. As long as the UK doesn't get nuked or at least my pension is paid I couldn't care less. I left the UK in 1973 and until very recently never watched UK TV.

I saw in the latest Olive Press rag, there was a journalist moaning about her driving license etc. She had only been working in Spain for 24 years.......................................................

I'm always a fan of do it yourself in these situations.

We left the UK last year and our council tax was £180 p/m.  The level of public services for this was pretty poor, especially with regards to bin uplifts and keeping public spaces and walkways clean and well kept.

In Spain we pay about €150 per year for the services and the bin uplifts in particular are excellent.

However, I accept that other services aren't so good and certainly the amount of weeds growing on pavements and roadsides is an issue. Nonetheless, I look after the areas outside my own place and my neighbours and it takes a few minutes a couple of times a week. No biggie.

I reckon if folk were back in the UK they would tidy up the areas a bit more themselves. So why no do it here?
