Morning,

Following on from this topic: EU national needs Residence and padron in Torrevieja I wasn't sure whether I should start a new one as this is a different angle.

Would anyone be able to recommend the cheapest provider for this purpose? I'm very healthy and hardly ever saw a doctor in the UK, don't take any medication nor have any health issues, so I don't need anything covered, etc. I just need to be able to satisfy the requirement, since I'm not yet old enough to get a UK state pension and S1.

TIA.

We used ASSSA, you'll need full cover with no co-pay, paid in advance, for your residence application.

Hello Flowerlover,

When taking out Health Insurance for your residency, it must be a fully comprehensive insurance with NO copayments, and unlimited medical expenses, a Premium or Standard plan would do.

Another thing to have a look into is the Insurance companies medical network, as some companies may be very limited and you will find yourself having to drive to another town just to get a check-up.

Finally, if you are over 40 years old, I would also recommend that you get an insurance company that offer "LIFETIME COVERAGE", this means that they can't kick you out of the policy due to age, high medical expenses or serious illness. (I know of only 2 insurance agencies who do is; AXA and DKV).

While I understand you will go on the Public Health care when you can, but I would advice that, depending where you go, to pay a normal Health Insurance, as the Public system is very slow, and you could be waiting months just to get an MRI, which has happend to many people.

If you would like more advice, I would be happy to help as I work for an insurance agency through AXA.

I hope this help and you get settled in Spain.

Hi, we took out our insurance with ASSSA for our residencia in 2020.  I didn't use them at all last year apart from a dental check-up but have had to use them several times lately for tests.

I can't fault them at all and their customer service has been amazing.  They speak english to.
