Can anyone offer any advice on how to deal with squatters?  I understand the formal eviction process route can take 12 months.   Anyone successfully evicted their squatters?  Who did you use?   Advice sought urgently.  Many thanks

I too have squatters .

They broke in and assaulted my wife and myself.  The police helped the squatters .

Maybe a few of us  should get together and make life unbearable  for the squatters .

A lot of eviction companies pay them to go .

I'm not keen on paying folks who injured us .

And paying them to go is just what they are after

So they them move on to sqatt in someone else's property.....and the circle goes on and on.

So that's no long term remedy.

Spanish Law needs changing otherwise these goings on will drive property owners away and you'll be left with run down gettos where crime and drug dealing becomes rife.

Spanish authorities look at sqatting as a means of easing their social housing problems.

Council's seem to also go along with this as it saves them money.

The whole thing is now out of control.

I fear nothing will change until the sqatting issue reaches Spanish Central Gov. level.

I think you need to explain your problem a bit better here. Is there more to the story, were they known to you or were they former or current tenants ?
If not a lot depends on whether they first broke in when it was empty or if you were there. If it was the latter & they pushed you out of the way then it was assault & trespass which is a lot more serious than squatting & should’ve been dealt with by the police.
Either you or the squatters must’ve called them so the call-out would be on record. If you were living there at the time then it should've be a simple decision for the police to throw them out. They would not be entitled to avail of the 48hr squatting rule etc or other squatting rights either. If this is the case & the police didn’t act then I think you need to speak to a Solicitor/Obagado here familiar with these laws for advice if that happened.
