Hi Brian,
If you tap on "Spain tips and guides" on the top bar of the page it gives you a wealth of information and topics, including becoming resident after Brexit, that should point you in the right direction. :)

Hi Brian,
I'm afraid you can't apply for Spanish citizenship until you have lived legally and permanently in Spain for 10 years. However, you can apply for residency.
Are you a UK citizen? If so, now that the UK is no longer a member of the EU, you'll need to apply for a visa to live legally in Spain. This process has to be started at a Spanish embassy or consulate in the UK. The financial requirements for a Non-Lucrative Visa are income (or access to funds) of around €27,200 per year. The initial visa lasts one year and subsequent renewals last 2 years. Once you've lived permanently in Spain for 5 years, you achieve "permanent" status and no further visas are required.
During the first 5 years of residency, you must not leave Spain for more than 183 days (6 months + 1 day) each year, otherwise you void your residency. As you will be fiscally resident in Spain, you will have to declare your worldwide assets here and submit annual tax returns in respect of any income derived from them.
Local taxes are considerably cheaper than the UK - "IBI" (Council Tax) bills are typically in the low hundreds, rather than thousands. If you have a car, road tax is also determined by your Town Hall.

Kind regards,
Kim

Hi Brian,
Unfortunately now since Brexit the financial requirements are far higher than before. As Kimmy has said the income requirements for yourself is around €27,200 but for an additional person (maybe a spouse) it's an additional €6,200 per person.

Hi Brian
I see from your previous posts that you already own your own “place in the sun”. Congratulations! Just come and enjoy it, within the legally allowed timescales. There’s no need to give up on the dream, it just becomes a different dream. 🤪🥂
