Villajoyosa is good with an excellent beach and restaurants along the promenade. It has very good access to the motorways and the walking behind Finestrat and Sella is outstanding. Best to rent and check the area out. There are Bungalows on Camping Imperium which you can rent for a good price. Hi...

...re a car and then you can get to know the area before commiting. I dont think there is the same UK community like say Calpe or Denia.

Hi David. I don't drive but will for sure go exploring areas around when I move to Spain. I enjoy nature and exploring different places and think the Costa Blanca can fulfill my interests alot. I plan to stay for a few weeks in each area I am interested in before making any purchase. I'm fine ( I think) not being around too many other Brits. In Barcelona the friends I made there were from all over the World and many of them were Dutch too. I lived in Holland for a short while and enjoyed the Dutch company 🙂 I just need to keep up with my learning Spanish which I really enjoy anyway 😁

Thanks for mentioning the bungalows to rent.

Hi Annie,

We. moved to Villajoyosa six months ago after living in Campello for four years. We love it here! Our neighbours are Spanish, European and the odd Brit. We speak a little Spanish and they speak a little English and we all communicate well. We are just om the outskirts at Torres can walk to the tram in 20 mins, town in 30 mins and there is a bus that runs. It is very level so walking is no problem and we have found our favourite restaurants and bars already. We find the locals very helpful and friendly and love the Spanish feel! Ps We don"t have a car either.

Hi Sue! That sounds fantastic! I already looked at properties online around the Torre area and liked that area alot. What you describe about your life in Villa sounds just great. I speak and write a little Spanish and am continuously learning back here so to know the locals are friendly is great as I want to be friendly and join in.

Thanks so much for your reply, its given me a boost in confidence that I'm looking at the right area.

Thanks Stephanie, I will be sure to visit and possibly stay for a few weeks 'out of season to get a feel of the place.

My list of 'check it out' is growing! I've got Guardamar del Segura on my list, Santa Pola, La Nucia, Oliva and Gandia so far!

I have an apartment in Villajoyosa and go there 6 months a year. I have my Spanish side of the family here too. I love La Vila, the locals are very friendly and helpful. The beaches are wonderful. There is always something to do even in winter as it’s a working town. There are great restaurants along the beach front, however if you go into the town there a loads of great quality  tapas bars too which are really cheap. There is a mix of nationalities and everyone rubs along nicely. There is everything you need regarding shopping from small exclusive boutiques to furniture shops. Good local supermarkets Mercadona, EuroSpar and Consum…I always buy local. Great market every Thursday. There is fresh fish daily from the port as there are fishing farms in the sea here too. And because it’s less well known it is a lot cheaper to live here on a day to day basis. I would try and learn some Spanish as if there is a down side it is a mainly speaking Spanish area. Tbh I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Thank you for describing Villajoyosa so lovely. I can really invisuge myself there and tucks so much on my wishlist! I am drawn so much to the authenticity of the town, getting the real Spanish life and by the sea which I love.

I already know a little Spanish and learnt a few basics when lived in Barcelona back in the mid 90's. I am still learning here in the UK whilst I wait my turn to move to Spain. I enjoy learning it and want to too. 🙂

Thank you again for painting a picture of Villajoyosa so well. 🙃
