Admittedly some years ago, but we brought our cats via a specialised animal transport company. Much easier, we didn’t have the hassle and they were fine. There are several perfectly reputable companies online in UK, just make sure they are DEFRA registered etc.

we have a small dog, checked with vet that passport completely in order and got address near port for worming tablet and arranged a couple of days near port to stay in case of problems...was all ok..

sent a cat by air years ago via Amsterdam and cost 1000 pounds.

Near me there is a firm that delivers animals expensive ...but they are cheap as they can take two passengers same time for free! need to check out Costa Blanca News....

We drive with our dog   every year . We take euro tunnel     so we can be with dog all of the journey    .   Once your dog is registered with a vet in Spain  you can get a Spanish pet passport   which is much easier

Does it save on paperwork you need from UK vets?

Yes  it saves paperwork and costs however you need rabies injection in Spain  yearly for the passport to  be valid
