Hi, can anyone recommend someone that will come out and spray pine trees with insecticide?

The house is in the campo nr Villena, our Spanish neighbour said they need to be sprayed in/around October.

We were at the property in February (not been able to get there since!) and they were already around - consequently we found we are all allergic to them so it’s vital!

The town hall have given me the names of a few companies but I wanted to know if anyone has used anyone local and what the cost was.

Thanks

Hi Elena,

Do you have lots of pine trees on your land? Please take a look at a Facebook group called Spanish Gardening where you will find lots of tips and information on how to get rid of these awful invaders without killing off pets or family! At least this will be useful until you find someone who will deal with this. If you have pets you must keep them away.

There is an agricultural shop Agricola Villena Coop., where they sell plants but also various spraying equipment and potions and they just might give you the name of someone that would do this job for you. If you are going into Villena town from the CV-81 road from Yecla, opposite the petrol station, before you get to the railway lines, on the right you will see a builders’ yard then a small road and then the large warehouse with side shop where they are most helpful and they may be able to give you a name or two. Google it if you can as my descriptions are always a little complicated!

Look forward to seeing you later on in the year perhaps.

Good luck,

Janice

We are looking to buy a property in the area which has pine trees surrounding the house. We have heard about this caterpillar and are concerned. Is it costly to have the trees sprayed and is this a big problem in the area? Any advice would be helpful. Thankyou.

In this area. some vast areas of the pines are sprayed by Generalitat Valenciana, but not normally in or near domestic premises. There is some good advice & discussions on:
