I,m sure most of non residents know about the rise this year in the calculation of tax to pay going from 19% to 24%. I had therefore expected a slight increase of the payment going up 5% which by my calculation would be a further 10€ approx.

I was so wrong and had to ask for an explanation from the new person who I have engaged after Angar Taxation had doubled their fees.

The new payment has actually increased by 25% not 5% as I wrongly thought. The increase is calculated on the cadastral value which in our case was 526 x19%= 100.04. each. However the new 526x 24%=126 which is actually 25% not 5% of the old payment. So our tax payments of 252€ is the new payment not the 10€ as I had expected it to be.

Just thought I,d forewarn anyone who expected the same end result as I had expected.

Regards

Pauline

The increase from 19% to 24% is in fact approx. 25% (26.31%) not 5%!

I must have been stupid then to think 24%less 19% equals 5%??? Well that's what my schooldays maths works out. I wonder if any others out there thought the same?

Pauline,

That is funny I was with Angar Taxation and also looking to move somewhere else, he is actually tripling his fees not just doubling. For a couple it used to be 40 € now it's 120 € ( including VAT). He will be losing many customers.

" 526 x19%= 100.04. each. However the new 526x 24%=126 which is actually 25% not 5% of the old payment."

it is a 5%  increase not 25%. The 5% is calculated on the 526 NOT the 100.4, anyway 526x19% is actually 99.94 not 100.4 :)

Have an excellent day !!

Sam

Hi Sam,

I didn't bother to get an accurate fee from Andy after reading the new rates on the website, but 40€ to 120€ is disgusting. I didn't add the cents to the 526, which gave the figures I quoted, but in my brain, old payment of 100.04 to 126 is 25% more payment. I have gone elsewhere and my INR has now been paid. Its cost us £50.

Hi Sam

Only reason I haven't replied with a recommendation is I, m not yet totally happy. I sent the transfer to persons spanish bank and their fee to UK bank, received a reply stating person going on holiday but would do the paying on return. I can't even find their reply in my emails so can't remember if going away for a week or fortnight ??? Never normally lose replies(not quick to delete important things) and haven't heard anything since. I got the recommendation of this forum and it's been over a week since transferring monies,. I, ll give it another week but for a 10 minute job done on the Internet anywhere I, m not exactly happy. Will update you later!

Don’t worry Pauline, I understand. I have used myself a UK provider, I pay everything in GBP  exchange rate was a bit rubbish but it’s only £ 4 over so not too bad. They charge £ 34.95 ( per property Not per person) and £ 12 pp if you want them to pay the tax on your behalf.

Let me know if you wanted their details

Hi Sam, you're probably using Spanish tax forms as that was their quote to do it earlier this year and yes they were well recommended. My fee was £50 for 2 of us incl paying it, and payment in euros to AT and £,s for fee, so no loss in conversion. I,ll await this persons update.
