I am trying to find a supply of surgical spirit also called rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. I want to get it in litre bottles (preferably). A pharmacy will only have small amounts.
It is used for cleaning.
I have never seen it in supermarkets but I could be wrong. Is it something a ferriteria would stock?

Hi
I used to use it for preparing paintwork on yatchs and we would buy litre bottles.
I'm sure I have seen it in either Le Roy Merlin or Bricomart in their gardening departments.
Its was with methylated spirits , white spirits e.t.c.
Short stubby plastic bottles.

Just a story (many years ago) A local tramp used to "pop" in to our pharmacy asking for either isopropyl alcohol. or methylated spirit. The pharmacist (knowing by reputation, previously, lived in the local park on a bench) & refused.
The local explained, "No. I´m reformed. I now work in the local homeless centre & need it to clean windows & for de-greasing purposes only"
The chemist relented & agreed to sell him a bottle:
He said, "Thank you for your understanding."
"Can I have a cold one please?"

As this product seems to have a variety of different names can you please tell me what to look for on the label and in which section of the supermarket it can be found? Thanks
